Hi! From Australia....

Ok so where do I start???? We are already a gluten free family and I haven't consumed any dairy for years, the girls hate cows milk so I make raw almond milk, I juice, my eldest daughter (5yo) eats ANYTHING I put in front of her as long as you explain God made it to make her beautiful and healthy!!! my youngest (2yo) eats a small selection of cut up raw veggies, they usually have cut up salad veggies for lunch and LOVE fruit! We've always been big on veggies but we also eat meat. I'm pregnant with my third.

A little background on the patient... About 3 years ago he started having servere stomach cramps, bloody stools and excessive weightloss. The doctor thought it was bowel cancer and we waited 3 months to see a specialist, he had a colonoscopy which showed 'insignificant polyps' and endoscopy which was normal. We were told for hubby to just 'deal' with the bleeding, constant bowel movements and pain episodes. He later went to a natural therapist who recommended a grain free diet but he couldn't sustain the it and I wasn't exactly up to speed on how to cook for such a diet. A few months past and no changes to his symptoms, I ended up having 2 sinus infections and have suffered since birth with chronic asthma symptoms. We pretty much just got fed up actually and decided something had to give! So we went on our gluten, dairy, (mostly) sugar, yeast, soy free diet as a family. While on my travels I have read a lot on raw food and as I said earlier I try incorporating some sort of raw in our days.

Just last Friday hubby had a a repeat colonoscopy after being admitted to hospital in which they removed his 'slightly enlarged' appendix, we've been living in a different state for 3 months so we think the hospital system is much more thorough here. I've been trying to read through and interpret his colonoscopy notes, we see the specialist next week, I'm pretty sure it's saying he has polyps and either crohns or colitis. SO upon reading this of course I think cancer etc but also RAW FOOD CURE! he is happy to do this but I'll be doing it as a family as I'm very aware of what my children eat and if I can help it want to prevent them from these dieseases!!! So??? Where do I go from here? Can a pregnant mum take her little family through a raw vegan diet??? What do I do??? I'm quite a bit stressed at the moment, my mind hasn't stopped :(

Hi Shine! I'm new to raw foods myself so I'm not sure how valuable any insight I have is to you, but to be honest I think going raw will be the best decision you ever make. If it seems a bit daunting, maybe you should transition slowly. Start with having raw breakfasts and lunch for example, and then maybe settle for a partially raw/partially cooked vegan dinner. If you need some more information on raw, log on to amazon or e-bay and order some raw food books. A few good ones to start with are:
Raw Foods Made Easy (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Food-Made-Easy-Jennifer-Cornbleet/dp/1570671753/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1309168889&sr=1-1) - This one's great as it doesn't involve any fancy equipment and everything takes minutes to prepare
Ani Phyo's Raw Food Essentials (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anis-Raw-Food-Essentials-Phyo/dp/0738213772/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1309169059&sr=1-1) - Reading this at the minute, and loving it! It's full of great recipes as well as Ani's insight as to why you should eat raw.

Also, here are some raw food blogs I'm loving at the moment, all with lots of great recipes:

http://www.choosingraw.com/
http://rawon10.blogspot.com/ - Raw on $10 a day or less (great if you're trying to feed a family!)
http://www.pure2raw.com/
http://veganmenu.blogspot.com/ (not raw, but vegan)
http://www.rawmazing.com/

Hope that helps! I know you must be under a lot of pressure but try your best to take things one step at a time. Don't look any further than planning the next meal and try to incorporate as much raw+vegan as possible. :)
