Hello :)

This is a tricky one, but I need to know approx how much celery, cucumber, apple, spinach and kale would go into making a litre of green juice? Just for your own recipe and how you'd make it with those ingredients. I know it is a tricky one, but I need to cost this out for the drug and alcohol service I work for so we can apply for funding to introduce green juices. Thanks! :)

I don't think you can do anything other than a rough estimate.

There are two types of oranges I can buy at the moment. One lot I juice 4 oranges and get about half an imperial pint (not a Queen Anne pint). The other ones I can get only need 3 oranges for the same amount of juice. Both lots of oranges are the same size fruit.

Age of the produce will feature as will ripeness and variety.

A rough estimate is absolutely fine! I just need the figures in print, it doesn't matter if it changes, I just need to be able to offer TPTB something lol. Thanks :)

Indeed, and nettles, dandelions are a real possibility, but probably not at the start! I think most will be freaked out by apples lol. Also, if the trial goes well then we'll most likely be looking into growing our own, especially the greens :)

yes, growing your own will be such a good thing on many levels but just on cost it will be such a help - I can never believe how much spinach costs from a supermarket!

foraging and teaching foraging for wild foods is a part time job for me. Where I live, in the summer, if there was suddenly no money coming in and I didn't have my veg patch, I could pick all the veggies I needed and then the fruits start coming along from July onwards.

I also find that teaching foraging to people is very empowering for them. Which is why I suggested it as part of the program mentioned above.

Ooo, you just gave me a great idea! I work at an organic garden as a weeder where there is tons of chickweed at the moment. I bring home bags and bags of it but never can eat it all, JUICER is the answer!
Thanks :)
