Unfortunately I have a choking sensation and lump in my throat feeling since March and cannot find out what is wrong after many tests and several doctors. It really sucks because I was so siked about going raw in February and then bam, got hit with this and cannot eat my beloved raw food. Ihave to puree/blend EVERYTHING or I feel like I am choking. I need some ideas about what to put in the blender other than saldas/spinach, avocado, almond milk. I am also on Diflucan and am not eating fruit. (I am also working with a holistic doctor for high mercury levels). I also have a burning sesnation at times so cannot eat tomatoes or peppers probably (afraid to try). Any ideas please? Has to be smooth, smooth, smooth. Thank you for any help!

how's your thyroid? my sister has problems with hers and not being able to swallow lets her know that her thyroid is off. might be worth checking into.

I read you're not eating fruit and I just wanted to double check - are you eating berries?
I would reccomend doing a search here, Google and YouTube for raw vegan soups. I've seen sooo many and those might work well for you.
Here's one I enjoy, you could modify it by simply blending in the corn rather than leaving it whole:
Cheezy Corn Chowder (with Deb's tweaks in (...))
Posted by Snowdrop on Raw Freedom Community
Serves 2-3
1 c corn kernels
1 clove garlic
1 T onion
1/4 c cashews
2 T nutritional yeast (heaping)
4 baby carrots (2 regular carrots)
1/4" ring of red pepper (1/4 of a whole pepper)
2 T olive oil
1/2 - 1 t psyllium (depending how thick you wish chowder to get) (Deb - I use 2 tsp chia seeds)
1 t cumin
1/8 t nutmeg
1 T parsley
1/2 t salt
Ground pepper to taste
2 c water
Blend in hi speed blender till very creamy.
Add : (unblended)
1/4 c more corn kernels (I add more)
1 T parsley
Warm up on stove till warm enough to eat.
Bowl up and garnish with additional minced parsley & fresh ground pepper.
Snowdrop's Note: You can use fresh or frozen corn -I used frozen today because it is winter and there is no fresh corn available. I didn't use miso, but a light miso would easily replace the salt & add a deeper dimension of flavor.
Carmella's Note: I didn't change a thing to the recipe and it turned out fabulously!
Enjoy!

Jennifer Cornbleet's Chocolate Mousse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsP3E73bAJw) This is for a tart - but you can just make the mousse, it's delicious!

I did have an ultrasound and an iodine uptake done (to check the thyroid)- both normal. Blood tests - normal too. Thank you for the idea though.
That soup sounds wonderful - of course, no psyllium for me. Hard to swallow as is...
Thank you!

I am also on Diflucan and am not eating fruit.
May I ask why you are not eating fruit? I just looked up diflucan and it doesnt interfere with ones diet. I'd highly reccomend you make up some fruit and/or green smoothies...

I am anot eating fruit while on the Diflucan because of sugar issues with fruit. The literature does not say NOT to eat it. I just want to cut out as much sugar as possible to get rid of any yeast issues.

Our bodies run on glucose(sugar), so you will have it in your body no matter what as most of our food is converted to that. Fat is the major culprit in people with candida, high blood sugar, etc issues. Maybe try less fats and more fruits, because it sounds like youre going to need calories in some form unless youre blending up some cooked grains/starches.

A few years ago, I had a choking sensation, or a lump in my throat. My doctor told me that rather than cancer (!), it was actually a common symptom of high levels of anxiety. Have you been especially anxious or stressed recently, or do you have long-term worries that have built up? If so, then it could be the same thing I had.
See for example: http://www.anxietyzone.com/index.php?topic=35.0

PhDiva - how did you get rid of it? And, no other stresses besides the darn choking/pain/lump feeling that is constant and no definitive answers. That in itself causes alot of anxiety - I am sure you know what I mean...

Well, really the lump in the throat was merely the first symptom that something was wrong (with the way I was living my life, etc.). Then I began to experience breathing difficulties - couldn't take deep breaths, and then started to feel light-headed. At this stage, I had no idea that I was deeply stressed - I thought I was just getting on with things.
Full-blown anxiety attacks followed, and I left my job, went on anti-depressants, and travelled around India for a year to get myself sorted out (as you do).
So in answer to your question, I guess the lump in the throat feeling disappeared some time during that year - when my anxiety levels fell. As you say, symptoms such as these work to increase stress even more.
If your symptoms are stress-related, then working out the source
of anxiety and removing it from your life would be the obvious remedy.
But if not stress-related, I don't have any advice. The fact that doctors have found nothing physically wrong with your throat, however, does point in the direction of anxiety.

For a long time I could not stomach green smoothies but now I add more water. What about a little sweetpotato braggs and water in the vitamix for about 4-5 minutes it comes out warm and yummy. But must have lots of water.
