I just did a happy jig in my kitchen. Good thing nobody was around.... LOL

I went to the farmer's market today. I had not been for quite sometime, but bit the bullet and took $10 and went! OH BOY OH BOY did I ever find some great things. Lookie what I got:

I got 20 baby cucumbers for only $2.00! I love those things, so they won't last long.

6 avocados - $2.00 (normally $1.29 each in the store)

Large basket jalepenos - $1.00

3 green peppers - $1.00

4 eggplant - $2.00

watermelon - $3.00 (normally $8 in the store lately!)

4 red peppers - $1.00 (been running $2.99 a pound in the store)

I was sooooooo excited. I just made some guacamole in my food processor... made it extra hot with two whole jalepenos in it and some lemon and garlic. I did a happy jig as I dipped my cucumber in the guacamole! I have not had the best couple of weeks, but this sure makes me soooo excited to have such yummy foods back in my house!

They have really improved our farmer's market a LOT and I can't wait to go back and get more things!

Oh well, just had to share my great purchase. Oh and I got the funniest looking eggplant at the store and the boys made a face on it. I will take pictures when my dh comes home with the camera and will post them later!

Rawadventures, will you post the address or general location of the farmer's market you go to?

Doe,

The farmer's market that I go to is in Jacksonville and is on Beaver Street. It's not huge, but you can find some good deals and good produce. I don't know of any others around here.

Doe,
Okay, let's see. If you took 17 to 295 and go north. Take 295 north to I-10 east. Take I-10 east to the Stockon Street exit. Once you get off on the exit, go north (turn right). Take that straight to Beaver street and turn right onto Beaver. The farmer's market is located on the right, just before the via-duct (bridge). There are no signs or anything for it and it is not located in the best part of town (just to warn you). But, when you find good prices on produce it is worth it! :)

If you have any more questions, just let me know or PM me and I will try to help!

I'll be in Jax for the Christmas holidays so I'll have to check the farmers market out. Do they have organic produce there?

Deedub,

Nothing organic that i have ever found. In fact, its not a huge farmer's market. However, just being able to find veggies that I can afford is a wonderful thing.

I love the farmer's market where I live. I can get a bagful of peaches...like 16 of them!!...for $4. and a bag of green apples for $4... So much more affordable than the grocery store!!
