I'd like to incorporate more of the stronger greens into my raw diet. I've been juicing and blending them but I'd like to eat more of them whole. Do any of you have some simple ways you prepare them that you can share? I'm not quite sure how to eat them raw. Things like collard greens and kale. If the taste is disguised a little that's even better or maybe flavored in a yummy way I don't know of. Thanks in advance.

This is my favourite kale salad:
1 head kale, shredded
1 cup tomato, chopped
1/2 avocado
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
Juice from 1/2 lemon
Celtic or Himalayan sea salt, to taste (1/4 – 1/2 t)
1/8 teaspoon cayenne (optional)
For extra yummy…add 1-2 sheets untoasted nori (snip up with scissors into little bits)
Optional toppings: raisins, pine nuts, hemp seed nuts, sesame seeds (I use sesame seeds)
In mixing bowl, toss all ingredients together. Mush everything together (with hands) to created marinated/wilted effect on kale. This makes it much tastier and easier to digest.
I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy this was!

Delicious recipe above!
I make Kale & collard green salads and marinate then in the fridge for 30mins with the following dressing. I add tomatoes, red onions and sprinkle hemp seeds, chia seeds and Goji berries.
1-2 heads of Kale or Collard Greens (Cut is small pieces)
Dressing: Fresh minced garlic, minced ginger juice/pieces, Sesame Oil, EVOO, ACV, Coconut Nectar, salt, lemon juice, Coconut aminos and Cumin.

Usually with oil and spices you can make them taste delicious. Garlic is a good one. I like chlorella powder and/or cayenne for enhancing the flavor. If you can marinate them, even better. I often chop them in a mini chopper first. Avocado is excellent for the real bitter ones.

Thanks again guys. I made a kale salad from one the recipe video and I can't eat them like this. Is this the only way raw foodists are eating their stronger bitter greens, in salads? Are there any other ways to eat them like say disguised in some type of recipes. The raw kale just doesn't agree with my palate.

just add it in slowly in small amounts and your palate will become accustomed to the taste and you'll wonder why you ever didn't like the taste.
Do you like watercress? I eat loads of that and there is no doubt that it is packed with goodies and it tastes lovely.

The raw kale just doesn't agree with my palate. Besides smoothies, I find soups are the best way to consume greens. Especially blended with any type of fat such as avocado. Usually I'll use cucumber, celery or zucchini as the base.

shred fine like in coleslaw , adding other green types
and make a nut / seed mylk based coleslaw type dressing

Just curious - did you massage it very well and really break it down? As much as I love this salad, if it's not sufficiently broken down, I don't think I'd care for it either. *Ü*

I absolutely love massaged kale, and the taste is very similar to the way it tasted when i used to cook kale, only more satisfying, and flavorful. BUT I do have a question, I have been using himalayan seasalt and lemon juice to help wilt it, which i massage into the kale, but I also have a liking for vinegar. When i first started eating kale in this way i would use vinegar with the salt and lemon, but I have since quit using the vin. because I don't think it is raw. so what IS the deal with vinegar?? Is anyone familiar with the procedure used to produce vinegar, and is it possible to have raw vinegar? If so, does anyone know where it can be purchased, or know how to make it?? Thanks!
I have a recipe to make your own apple cider vinegar.
I've only ever made it once still have 4 jars left and I don't have access to the recipe that I used thanks to a pesky power supply malfunction.
now just from memory:
mother-
raw apple juice covered and put in dark area until mother forms, about a 1/4 of cup
once you have mother skim it off, then add to your raw apple juice *that youve strained to get out all the bits) let it work (seems to me mine took a few wks-)
once's it finished 'cooking' pour into sterilized jar/jugs and enjoy.

Go to Veggie Grill and ask for their kale salad. It's THE most amazing kale salad I've ever had.
