I've been mid to high raw for about 3 months but the last couple of weeks I've slipped bad. I've been vegan on and off for years and pretty much have little to no problems with cravings on a vegan diet. But, when I do the raw thing my cravings are pretty bad and when I slip on a raw diet I eat things I wouldn't normally eat and it's becoming more often. Like when I'm vegan I'm not super strict but for the most part I'm just vegan. Now I'm eating things like hot links when I cheat *gasp* haven't had one of those in years. How do you deal with these cravings? Do they get better or is this why so many people don't stay raw? I love the benefits but geeze this is a bit much and I don't want to eat things like pork, I never did that before. Now I feel like I just have to have some things.

I think part of it may be that I'm not varying my raw diet enough. I only have a blender and a juicer right now and more appliances aren't in my budget right now. I also don't have much spare time to prep food so what I do has to be pretty simple and quick. I drink a lot of green and carrot juices and green smoothies and salads (which I'm tired of) and a lot of raw trail mix, nuts, avocados and bananas I'm trying to add more whole fruits but I honestly don't have much of a taste for them so I don't push it. If anyone has any simple yummy food ideas that might help me "feel" like I'm eating regular food that might help. I don't have a dehydrator though.

Sometimes when I am craving, sick of food, or uninsprired, I just juice. Mix it up. Watermellon juice is delish. I understand that you were looking for more "foodie" type items, but this seems to work for me. Mono eating has helped me out in the past too.

When I crave SAD food I usually juice stuff too but usually kale and wheatgrass, it makes me feel better and remindse why I'm eating raw and also takes time to clean it after and by them I've usually moved on from the craving

Thanks this actually helps a little bit. I realized I need to (at least sometimes) just kind of wait the craving out instead of jumping right into it. I'll try juicing and waiting it out a little bit and see if that helps. I just had some veggie pizza :-( My goal was all raw today but today was way better then I've done the past week or so.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking you need appliances to make this work. It's an illusion - and an expensive one.
Just eat the raw foods and learn to understand what the cravings actually mean. Very often they mean you are thirsty and very often you can find a raw food that will satisfy.
