hi there. Just thought i would see if anybody had any raw items or recipes that would be a good replacment for baked potatoes and baked french fries. I have been high raw for like 5 years, (like 80 to 85%) but since having my daughter 2 1/2 months ago I have had to give up grains, soy and legumes since none of those agree with her when I eat them and she gets them in my milk - they make her constipated, gassy and stuffed up. So I have succesfully eliminated all of these things thanks to her. Not that I dont still have a hard day with temptation here and there but for those things I know I can't because otherwise she will not be a happy camper. ANyway! The last thing that I have to eliminate before I am completely raw is potatoes, and i just seem to be having a hard time with this one thing. So if anybody has any suggestions I would sure LOVE to hear them. I have been wanting to go 100% for the last year but always found excuses why I couldn't. Now I am SO close I really want to do it.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Well, you can still have potatoes as far as chips are concerned. You just slice them real thin and dehydrate them.

As far as actual potato replacement for potato salads and french fries, most people use Jicama. Alissa has a recipe for mashed potatoes using cauliflower as a substitue.

Here is a picture of a Jicame root cut in half so you can get an idea as to what it looks like. It taste like a half between a potato and an apple.
