Hello hello! My name is Kim and I am seriously ready to rock this raw foods out! I have been wanting to try at least a week of raw foods since last Christmas and just haven't done it. No good reasons, just excuses.
I finally decided to start yesterday and it really wasn't bad or hard. My husband is even doing it with me. We are both Vegetarians and are looking to become Vegan. I am hoping this will help.
Currently, I am doing the Raw until Dinner approach until we can get a more comfortable grip on what we are doing! Any advice is welcome! There are so many conflicting statements out there, it's hard to know what to do. So we're keeping it simple and just doing lots of veggies, smoothies, and keeping it light on the nuts.
Let's see, now for the basics. I just turned 29 last week, I start my MA in Counseling program this Fall. I love to hike, bike, do Bikram yoga, paint, dance etc. I am known amongst my friends for my cooking and Vegan baking, something I will have to switch up for my new raw lifestyle. I have two cats and a loving husband... No kids yet, but someday. :) I love cardio. Cardio dancing, cardio circuit training, any cardio but running (simply because I have bad knees).
While I understand raw foods is not a diet, I am hoping to lose some weight over time to get to my ideal weight. Once I injured my knee (I was in a wheelchair for 9 months!) my weight went from 120 to 140 and then just never went away. Granted, it's been some 7 years as well. My body got comfortable at 140 and even a few years ago went up to 160. I lost it through working out and eating less, but 140 is much harder. Last year I went from 140 to 130 on SBD in about 2 months, but yuck! It was a diet! LOL That's so not what I was looking for!
Anyway, in a year I would love to be at 120. Is that a doable thing you think? More importantly, I want to have my healthy glow back in my skin and feel better and be healthy so that when I have a kid in a couple years, my lifestyle is already just that, a lifestyle.
Thanks for listening to my long rant! :)
