Hi All,
I found this board a few days ago and have been reading intently ever since. What a great site, filled with such knowledgeable and supportive people! I hope to join in with thoughts, comments, questions and support, myself.
I am just beginning this raw journey. Frankly, I am surprised to be here. While IÂ’ve been almost vegan for over a year (vegetarian since 1987), eating raw was never part of any plan I thought of for myself! When I originally became a vegetarian, it was after a bout with Candida. ThatÂ’s when I discovered how nutrition, healthy and non-healthy, affected my health. Since then, IÂ’ve been moderately active with some jogging, hiking and lots of walking and while I have several pounds to lose, IÂ’ve been healthy and felt good.
But this past summer, as I deepened by spiritual life with Level I Reiki, something shifted inside regarding how much better I can live my life. I committed to veganism as a lifestyle and that lead me to learning more about raw food. I see, too that it can be more than just a way to eat, but can be a lifestyle as well. I’ve been doing a lot of reading and have begun to take my first steps. I’ve scanned and read through several Internet sites. I picked up Raw Food/Real World, by Matthew Kenney and Sarma Melngilis at the library on Friday. On Saturday, I spent hours at Barnes & Noble reading and picked up Living in the Raw, by Rose Lee Calabro. I like this book, as it seems to be more simple than so many other books that have ‘gourmet’ in the title-lol
At any rate, I happily turned 50 in January and I still feel there is so much to live and learn in this life. I am lucky to live in Southern California near stores and shops where I can find what I need! Thanks for ‘listening’ to my story!
