Hello!
Does anyone own a Blentec with the Newer larger Wildside 96oz jar with 4" blade??? Do you like it better than the smaller original one? I don't want to spent over $100.00 on it if others don't like it.
Thanks

I got it a few months ago and it's like having a brand new blender. Changes I noticed:
-It's now about a zillion times quieter than before, I think I can have a conversation 6 inches away from it when it's on speed 10 now, before even 6 feet away you had to scream for your life for someone to understand you
-Even though it's much bigger the jar is still the same height, it's just wider
-Blades are longer meaning their tips will spin considerably faster than the blade in the smaller jar and they reach to the edges of the larger jar
-New angled 5th side creates turbulence forcing more things back into the blades rather than snipping around and above them
-Inner lid on main lid to add things while blending (my old one had a tiny steam hole only)
-BPA free (my old one was not BPA free as it was too long ago)
Look on eBay, I got mine really cheap for like $60 or something, it was a heck of a deal, but even at $100 I'd say it's well worth it, I'd swear I have a whole new blender, it's no longer the same blender at all, and it was already great to start with.
Here's a thread I made shortly after buying it:

Set eBay to email you when new ones are listed for sale (just search "Blendtec wildside" and then click save search), maybe you'll get a crazy deal like I got ($60 if I remember well).
Since getting the larger container, I never use the original one anymore - I love it! I got mine before they started labeling it "Wild Side" though - but it's the same one. *Ü*

My husband bought me one for my birthday a few days ago, but they haven't shipped it yet. When he read the reviews, someone posted that they were making a smoothie with frozen strawberries and the machine couldn't break them up. They said that the old machine did a better job. They tried several times. I decided to order anyway because all the other reviews were really positive. Did anyone have this problem?

Unless you have a tamper, I don't see how the BT can break up frozen s'berries. I have both a BT and a VM. I use the VM for frozen s'berries because of the tamper and I really have to PUSH those berries down into the blade to get them to break up.
I have a tamper for the BT which I ordered from ebay a couple years ago - made of wooden dowels and for use with the old original lid that has a hole in it the size of a quarter.
Without something to push those berries down into the blades, the berries would simply dance above the blades (it would do this in the VM too without the tamper). Personally, I always let my s'berries thaw when using the BT.
I use the frozen Costco s'berries - they're pretty big - alot of them are the size of golf balls. *Ü*

I can only assume they did what my mom did when she got her new $30 black and decker blender. She's used to "measuring" ingredients by their height in the blender jar, which of course varies based on the width of the jar. Since the new blender is much larger, and she was "measuring" by height only (if she put 2 inches high of berries in the old narrow blender she put 2 inches high in the new wide blender), so of course she was adding 3 times more frozen fruit without realizing it which was way too much for the blender (she measured the liquids properly so those didn't get bigger quantities leading to way to much solid and way too little liquid).
I assume that reviewer uses the same flawed "measuring by height" method that simply does not work and ended up with 4 times more frozen fruit than they thought they added. If anything, the new jar would eliminate even more bits since the blades cover a far greater area allowing them to blend more at a time, but I never had any bits in smoothies using either jar. Another possibility is using the "smoothie" option for a smoothie that's over 1 cup, you need the smoothie xl or xl smoothie or whatever it's called for a larger smoothie otherwise it's not long enough for the larger size smoothie. I never use the non-xl smoothie mode.
My blentec never had problems blending frozen fruit and that's pretty much all I use in smoothies except for bananas.

I agree - my BT doesn't have a problem either, *except* for frozen Costco strawberries. The brand ours carries are quite large and they are rock hard - not like any other frozen fruit. *Ü*
