Hello everyone...I'm from KY and almost 50...next month, I will be...omg! Anyway, I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and the specialists at Cleveland Clinic said the only way to alleviate the symptoms of being insulin resistant and morbidly obese (caused from the PCOS) is weight loss surgery...I DO NOT want to go through that! So...I've decided to try going raw to see if I can get the weight off and return my metabolism back to how nature intended...any comments and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Today is day 3 for me of eating mostly raw, but all things prepared by hand and nothing out of a box or with additives/preservatives, etc. I have already dropped 3 pounds! I've been gradually going towards this way of eating for years now...am into healthy lifestyle and do try to eat healthy most of the time, but anytime I eat anything with sugar, white flour, preservatives, etc. I blow up like a balloon and look like if you stuck a pin in me, I'd pop!

Anyway, thanks for reading my book! LOL

Welcome. You are so lucky that you have enough sense to see beyond what the doctors were tell you and decided against the surgery. I have read so many bad things about it lately.
This will not be easy for you and you will face temptation as you go forward but write down a pro and con list and look at it every time you are tempted.

Welcome Kentucky! Glad to read that you're already experiencing some motivating factors, like having lost three pounds :)

Comments and suggestions? Learn to make some really fun goodies, like raw brownies, raw kale chips, raw pudding, etc to help you quelch your Standard American Diet (SAD) cravings with raw substitutes.

Also, keep sharing with us here at RFT. That'll help keep you accountable and motivated. :)

Good luck and keep us posted!

ide quit watching tv / radio as its 24 / 7 ads prompting you to eat ill healthful garbage

always keep bananas around as theyre always in stores and a good anytime quick food . add some walnuts or almonds and its a hearty meal

green tea is said to supress appetite

nut / seed mylk smoothies with fruit mixed in are a filling / quick drink

mixed green salads with alot of vegis like brocoli - mushrooms - etc and adds like avacado - sesame seed - walnuts - etc with homemade apple cider vinegar - cold pressed oil - herbs are my dinner every nite

lemon squeezed into ice water supresses appetite

maybe aerobics in home or backyard to start burning excess weight off

homemade trail mix is a staple i always have to eat with fruit when on the go / at work . i carry it in the 16 oz plastic jars peanuts are sold in , can ' drink ' the mix right out of jars for a quick munch . even when driving in road rage mode at 70 mph and above ;-)

rice with broiled vegis / vegi or dry bean soup / oatmeal are to me the best cheats on a raw food diet as theyre simple straight from nature foods

more dark raw greens the better , spinach - kale - dandelion - romaine - arugula - etc

perfect timing to make a run at raw foodism with the growing season just starting to locally produce
