Hi everyone - I have heard and read conflicting statements about the 'rawness' of raw-milk cheese. Since it has not been heated, I do believe it can be counted as raw, but can you consider an animal product a raw food? Please help work this out for me. I love cheese, but also feel so much clearer now that I don't eat it. However, my husband loves it and continues to eat it with gusto. I would love to know for sure, so at least we would be educated about what's going in our bodies. (and I would love and occaisional nibble if it's ok... :o Thanks so much for any replies!

Hi Rawk On,

Well, I'm not sure if it is or isn't. I mean, they say it is as it's unpasteurized.

BUT...I must go into Moderator-mode and inform you that this IS a raw-vegan site and we discuss those aspects of the raw diet...not the raw animal products aspects.

Thanks for understanding!

Edited to add: Also wanted to add that while it may be raw...dairy is dairy and I've heard that in some people, even raw dairy produces the same undesired results as pasteurized - excessive mucous, allergies, etc. Check out http://notmilk.com and share it with your husband as well!

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to close this thread now because as I said, there really isn't any need for any further discussion on this as Bethany answered your question about whether or not it's raw (below my post). I just don't want the floor opened up to any of our members who may have chosen to eat this way. They can PM you with any words of advice, etc. on eating raw dairy, etc.

Again, thanks for understanding!

It is a raw food. As Rawkinlocs stated, it is not a vegan food.
