View Full Version : Victoria Boutenko says...
I saw Victoria speak in person yesterday... WOW! If she comes anywhere near you, you MUST see her! She's delightful and humorous, passionate, and persistant. I LOVE her accent!
But she has so totally devoted her life to finding raw answers. Every time a situation presents itself, she uses herself and her family as guinea pigs until she finds a solution.
I was one of the first to get her Green for Life book :D Every raw foodist needs this book!
But here's a couple of the interesting highlights from her talk... sorry I'm not one for remembering supporting facts and details...
-Everyone should drink a quart of green smoothies every day. She's got a short article and some recipes on her site http://www.rawfamily.com/articles.html but the supporting facts and her research is in her book. Also very important... VARY your greens. Don't always use Kale (Tim  ) or Spinach, or whatever... again, supporting evidence in the book.
-Also she said detox symptoms are not necessary. She said that raw fiber (like flax seeds) are little sponges that can hold six times their weight in toxins. She recommends we get 50 - 70 grams of fiber per day (but working up to that amount) to properly rid our bodies of toxins without having to suffer more effects from them.
I got to meet yeahBethany there, and Hackerm (Heidi) came with me... it took us 1 1/2 hours to get there in Chicago traffic, but WELL worth it!

This is good to know because I had a piercing headache last week and I never want to feel that pain again. I just know it had to be a result of detox.
I hope she comes to the Atlanta area soon. I'll definitely try to see her.

Hi,
I am in San Diego, and found out yesterday about a talk being given by the Boutenkos on Oct 29, at a cafe in Lemon Grove. It only costs $15, and this includes a sampler meal and the talk. I have heard many good things about the Boutenkos, but have never looked at any of their books. I think I will go to the talk they're giving, though. It would be nice to hook up with some fellow rawies here in town!

GO GO GO!!! Bring friends, bring family, bring people you care about, bring someone you could care less about  When I was sitting there listening to her I was thinking the entire time "I wish (husband, mother, father, in-laws, brother, etc) was there with me." There was just SO MUCH incredible information she shared!

I accidentally stumbled across her and her family in 2001, changed my life, I took her Gourmet chef class, over a period of 5 weeks, and it also changed my life.
She is one of the nicest, sweetest, most interesting people I have ever met, totally non-jugemental, easy to talk to, and she has been through every thing we are going through. She totally walks her talk, and so does her family.
She is an inspiration beyond words.
I have met and talked with alot of raw food teachers/chefs/writers, and she is one of my favorites, next to our Alissa (of course)

I am so glad you got to go kmik! I loved hearing her talk in Seattle, she is so sincere. How fun that you got to meet yeahBethany!
catzzeye, bring some money! You can buy there books at the talk and they are only around 12 dollars.
Wow ! how exciting ! She is not coming to NY (or anyplace near) anytime soon. A possible date in spring 2006 but not confirmed I have her cooking DVD and her videos series, am on waiting list for new book as well. I would think there would be more Raw Food events events in NYC ?!?
Thanks for sharing the experience !

Hey Krista,
Was I to take this as I don't vary my greens :) ? If so I do vary my greens between Kale and Broccoli and sometimes baby spinach...:). Some days I go two in a row, but rarely more than that.
I find it interesting that she supports green smoothies every day! That's way cool!!
Just being funny with this that's all. Thanks for this post!! I appreciate it.
Take care Krista,
Tim

Krista,
Oh, I am so excited the books are on their way.
When their son was here in Idaho, we went to hear him and they were pre selling the books then! Oh, I cannot wait to get mine!
I would love to hear his parents some time!
Glad that you got to go to this and had a good time!
Tim... I knew you wouldn't take it the wrong way :) But actually you may want to work a couple other greens in there (according to Victoria).
Pam... The book is amazing! You're going to love it. Next to Alissa's book, "Green for Life" will be my most highly recommended raw book!

Very excited to get the book and add more greens to my diet.
I think I need them right now!
Krista, I went to college in CrownPoint Indiana! Went to Chicago every weekend.
Some time we will make a trip back there and visit the college days!
