Hi all - Sorry I haven't had much time to post lately - I don't get to the computer as much as I'd like! :o

I have a question about pizza crusts. Are they always made from sprouted wheat or grain? I've had terrible luck sprouting anything other than alfalfa sprouts! Alissa's book is what I'm asking for for Christmas! But out of curiosity what is her pizza crust made out of?

Thanks!
Sharon

Hey Sharon,

No, most of the crusts I've seen didn't involve sprouted grains at all. Alissa has several crusts: Gourmet, easy and easiest. The easiest has a flax seed base with carrots and herbs and seasonings.

Michelle Reeves of FromSadtoRaw.com has a crust on her recipe page that is nut-based. Alex the Raw Guru on RawGuru.com has a pizza recipe as well that is flax/nut-based.

Check out those two sites and maybe Alissa will decide to post one of her crusts here...but if not, those two you can get until you receive your Christmas gift! :D

Sharon,
From my understanding grain sprouts don't have to be as long as alfalfa tails are. I just soak my grains overnight then pour off the water and leave them on the counter covered for no more than one or two days, rinsing them at least twice a day. All I look for is the appearance of a tail then I use them. If I go any long they end up rotting.
