I just visited a 2nd-hand store over my lunch break and scored a Saladacco, a heavy vintage chrome citrus juicer, a huge juicing recipe book, and the ubiquitous "The Secret", which I have yet to read completely. Seems appropriate in this case, I went there looking specifically for a spiral slicer and that's exactly what I got.

perfect ... I need one of those too but they are very unusual things to find here in the uK. I think I am going to hae to buy one. I particularly want one that will do angel-hair.
I live in hope.

Congratulations! That was a very successful visit!
I love thrift stores and my best 'raw food' score was a 4 tray Excalibur dehydrator (still in box with a hard cover book, parchment paper - hardly used) for $10 last year.
Is your citrus juicer electric or is it manual? I love my citrus juice, usually 3-4 oranges and 1 large grapefruit. So good! *Ü*

I checked on ebay.co.uk but they have nothing. This is the best one on amazon.

That good ole law of attraction. Someone posted about adding the law of attraction to the raw lifestyle...so I just googled it and came up with The Secret. I bought it! I need a Saladacco too. I will visualize myself with one!
I commented the other day about having the $500 Vitamix and the $300 dehydrator but not having the $25 Saladacco??? Hello...whats wrong with this picture. I had a good laugh.
Thanks to the someone that put the law of attraction in my path.

Thrift stores rock (when they have something, lol). My best score was a saladaccio for a buck and a champion juicer for 50.

Yup, if you doubt the law of attraction, a 2nd-hand store is the best way to confirm its existence. I can't count the number of times I have gone to a thrift store with a specific need in mind and found exactly what I was looking for. They're like brick and mortar karma machines. :)
@ DebB: The citrus juicer is manual. It's a heavy chrome-plated retro-looking thing that's simple, easy to clean and works well. My only complaint: it doesn't juice the jumbo-sized grapefruit. But it's so handy! And for $6 you just can't go wrong! Next on my hit-list: a dehydrator.

Wow - I would love to find one of the old manual citrus juicers! It's my understanding that even the new ones (upwards of $150-200) aren't able to juice the big g'fruit either. Now that, I'd love to come across - as I juice a lot of citrus. I bet it does a great job! *Ü*
