Good Morning!
I have to begin by saying I love the Master Cleanse thread! I read it on my way in to work and learned a great deal from everyones experiences - thank you for sharing!
ok - I am running a marathon in October. I am doing it for my neighbor (she does not know) who started running with my encouragement and proceeded to blow me away and ran 2 marathons while I was still trying to run through my neighborhood and back! She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer:( and is on the mend. At the EXACT time I was learning about her cancer, I received an email from a woman at the American Cancer Society. She was responding to an inquiry I made months ago. She mentioned there were still spots open for a local marathon - all I had to do was sign up and raise money. I felt like the timing meant something special so I signed up! I wont tell my neighbor until it is over - or maybe never - not sure.
Anyway - that is my "why" I have just started to train and have been experiencing injury after injury. I am 45 pounds heavier than I should be which is waaay too heavy to run 26.2 miles. While running this morning I thought - when was the last time i felt GREAT? It was a few months back when I just decided to have nothing but green juice for a few days. I did not call it a fast because that makes me immediately run for the nearest box of fudge in fear of deprivation!! The green juices never make me feel deprived though. I also find that green juice somehow heals my injuries? So I will be green juicing until I feel it is not working. I am doing it to improve my health which will mean losing weight, increase my energy, and be able to run!
I have been rambling so long I almost forgot my questions!
1. - Can I drink a kombucha while green juice fasting? I mean - I guess the rules are up to me but will it hurt my progress in any way? Are some brands better than others? I probably wont make my own.
2. - Dh -- I spoke with him this morning - he is very supportive of my fast but when I said "we will have to curtail our weekend dinner dates" - he was not as excited! How do you all get around this?
Those are the questions of the hour - I am sure there will be more:)!!
Thank you!

1) please don't. You want to avoid anything stimulating to your organs while fasting (as they are often resting/healing) So no kumbucha, green/white/black teas, or coffee.

2) I bring along lots of juice and enjoy the conversation! I don't worry about not eating... I just enjoy the social aspects of my time with people.

Green juices are healing. Fruit juices are cleansing.

You may want to combine some fruit juices simply to make your experience more yummy. You are already giving up so much... so having something really yummy is always nice.

And remember... you can add spices to your green juices and call it soup!!!

Thank you Aleesha!! Great advice! You are right on the money once again! Thanks for the info regarding fruit vs greens - that was in the back of my mind. I never felt like I cleansed on green juices vs the master cleanse etc. I will gladly make some fruit juices!! Thanks again for the info!
