Hi, I’ve been reading the posts here for a while so I figured I would introduce myself. I'm not entirely new to raw foods; last summer I did a 30 day raw challenge and felt really great. I previously had IBS and ulcers which is why I was researching different diets. But after the summer I gradually slipped back into cooked foods until I was eating things I know I’m sensitive to--wheat and dairy, refined sugars--and starting to feel increasingly tired and depressed. I was even hospitalized with severe depression last November. Over the last few months I've developed chronic fatigue along with a low-grade fever and mental fogginess that is really interfering with my work. Traditional doctors didn’t find anything (mono, lyme, etc), but a naturopathic doctor diagnosed me with candida overgrowth, which I definitely think I have. But so far the herbal remedies have not been too effective. I basically can’t function because my fever has been spiking at 101 for most of the last 3 weeks and I’ve basically been collapsed on my parents’ couch, unable to even go for a walk in the mild 75 degree weather without sweating profusely and feeling like I’m about to spontaneously combust. It’s ridiculous—I should NOT be feeling this way at any age, much less as a supposedly young and healthy person.
So anyway, I'm at my wit's end here but I'm going to give this way of eating another try. Fortunately I love raw foods so if I can get through the detox/cravings it should all be good. Reading through the old posts on this site has answered a lot of questions I had, but I’m sure I’ll come up with more :-)
