Hey,i've been sprouting nuts for quite some time. I started to sprout seeds lately like sunflower seeds and flax seeds. However im a little confused about flax seeds. When I sprout them or soak them in my mason jar, they tend to form a sort of gel like consistency. Is it ok to eat the gel part? I know the main reason why you soak nuts and seeds, is so u can release the enzyme inhibitors. But the enzyme inhibitors are probably in the gel forming parts. I usually just throw it into my smoothies. Are you suppose to drain it out?

oh and how do you get them to sprout so the leafy roots comes out? I noticed when i soak them, their are often times when some of the flax seeds stick to the side of the wall of the mason jar without being soaked in the water. And they tend to have sprouted. Is it because you have to remove the gel part after its soaked?

I've always eaten the gel part.

Here are some instructions on sprouting the flax seeds:

Chia seeds will do the same thing. Eat them like that.
