Hello,
I am looking to switch to a tooth soap and was wondering what is the best. Im seeing alot of post about dr. bronner. Would this be a good tooth soap.
http://www.amazon.com/Dr%252e-Bronner%2527s-Castile-Lavender-oz%252e%2529/dp/B00120U56G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303741986&sr=8-1
can i get glycerine and fluoride free tooth soap or toothpaste locally like at whole foods to try out. I definitely want to toss my regular toothpaste.
thanks
I don't know which is 'the best' - but a few days ago I had some dental work done at a holistic dentist's office and this is the tooth soap they carry. I bought a bottle and although I've only used it for a few days, I'm very happy with it. One Drop Only (http://rupamherbals.com/Products.htm), scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page.
The only other soap I've used in the past was straight Dr. Bronner's and this tastes way better. Plus the almond/hemp castille Dr. Bronner's blistered up the inside of my mouth for several days. I don't know if Dr. Bronner's soap is right for everyone to be using inside their mouths. *Ü*

so i went to wholefoods yesterday and all there toothpaste had glycerin in it so i didn't get nothing. I also seen the dr. bronners but wasn't sure which one to get as there is many brands. I also seen this at whole foods for $6.50. Has anyone tried the eco-dent that says it gives you 200 brushes.

For a long time I wanted to try Tooth Soap, but after reading a lot of the post on tipking.co.uk, I decided to try Dr. Bronner’s liquid soap.
My only concern with the liquid soap is that it contain glycerin, I think all natural soap bars contain a small amount of glycerin (maybe the liquid has more glycerin:confused:).
From Dr. Bronner’s website FAQs section. (What are the uses and dilutions for your soap?)
For tooth brushing, apply a drop or two of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap (I prefer the peppermint) to a wet toothbrush. Brush as you normally would, rinsing accordingly. Be careful about using more than a couple drops of soap, as you might start foaming at the mouth (last time I checked "rabid chic" was not hip). Many people with sensitive or softer teeth like to use our soap as toothpaste because it lacks abrasives.
I use one drop undiluted or several drops diluted, 1 part soap to 4 parts water.
Dr. Bronner’s liquid soap stop my gums from bleeding and I have not had any problems since (at least 6 months).
My mother gums were swollen (do to some old dental work), within a day or two her gums were back to normal.:cheer:
For an experiment I am going to grate a Dr. Bronner’s soap bar add coconut oil, myrrh some other herbs and natural stuff.
Hope this help,
Robin

I use Dr. Bronner's peppermint liquid soap, from Wholefoods and I love it. I am concerned about the glycerin, so when I run out I am going to purchase the bar soap and grate it for Tooth Soap.

right that is what im worried about is the glycerin. Guess i don't want the liquid soap then if its got the glycerin in it. I could just get the natural toothpaste as that has it as well. I also read on a different post about someone using kiss my face natural bar soap that is glycerin free. It said to just rub the brush on the soap and brush the teeth. I did see wholefoods had the kiss my face soap but i wasn't sure about that since im still researching this.

I think all natural bar soap have an small amount of glycerin, as glycerin is a by product of the soap making process.
I am not sure if the liquid soap has more glycerin than the bar soap.
Also, the "Tooth Soap" brand has a small amout of glycerin.
What is the name of the non glycerin bar of Kiss My Face Soap?
Wants I change to the bar soap, my concens about the glycerin, will rest.
I really do think using natural soap to clean the teeth is wonderful.

Hey im not sure on this as i seen like 4 kiss my face soaps at whole foods yesterday but i didn't see non glycerin on it or nothing really. They weren't plain either. Maybe somebody else can help answer this question for both of us. It was like $4 for a bar of it which would be cheap to use to brush the teeth if it was okay to use and not cause problems. I just wasn't sure about this so that's why i didn't get it.

I went to Dr. B's and Kiss My Face website.
Dr.B's peppermint bar soap ingredients:
Organic Coconut Oil*, Organic Palm Oil*, Sodium Hydroxide**, Water, Mentha Arvensis*, Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Peppermint Oil*, Salt, Citric Acid, Tocopherol
* CERTIFIED FAIR TRADE INGREDIENTS
** None remains after saponifying oils into soap and glycerin
Kiss My Face pure olive oil bar soap ingredients:
Saponified Olive Oil, Water, Sodium Chloride
KMF does not mention glycerin (or sodium chloride) as a by product, so the only way to be sure is to contact the company.

In your Cavity Prevention Plan, are detergent foods that have nothing to do with soap or even tooth paste. They refer to the cleansing properties of fibrous foods that mechanically scrub the debris off tooth surfaces. This in turn, prevents dental cavities from forming. Included are crunchy apples and pears and a host of raw vegetables such as celery, zucchini, lettuce, cucumbers and carrots.
Besides gently abrading the teeth, these fruits and vegetables contain nutrients and water which aids in dissolving food particles and makes it less inviting for plaque to adhere to teeth. Plaque is the sticky stuff that turns into tartar which the hygienist scrapes off every time we get a cleaning. Because one of the components of plaque is bacteria, its presence contributes to the formation of dental cavities.

Why are you concerned about the glycerine, if you're getting the vegetable glycerine instead of the petroleum one? This one appears to be made from palm oil:
http://www.starwest-botanicals.com/category/vegetable-glycerin/
I used to buy it from some of my seed catalogs years ago for making body lotions at home. It is likely to be used in organic toothpastes to keep them soft so they don't dry up in the tube. A non-glycerine one, if packed into a tube, might dry up like a rock before you finished it. That's certainly possible here in the Southwest, where we have such severe temperature differentials and very little humidity.

I personally use Eco Dent and I haven't used anything else since I started it in 2007... This stuff is amazing and WAY BETTER than 'Tooth Soap' of any kind!! :throwhearts: ... My teeth are whiter, not sensitive anymore and I could gauge my tooth sensitivity within the first 24 hours of using it... they have ALWAYS been sensitive, since I was a kid, and this stuff knocks it out of the park! Even just using the regular powder my teeth are whiter and I've actually healed a cavity with it... I don't sell it, just so you know, lol... but if I could I would!! I would die before I used anything else, unless I make it myself [which I have, but I always go back, lol] :D
Why are you concerned about the glycerine, if you're getting the vegetable glycerine instead of the petroleum one?
Because glycerine impedes remineralisation of tooth enamel.
