Hi all, I think I'm ready to ditch my Nesco dehydrator and purchase an Excalibur. I am thinking of purchasing the 9 tray model with the timer and on/off switch (the excalibur website is having a special right now too that includes nonstick sheets and polyscreens). So, my question is.. how do you all like your Excaliburs? Am I choosing the right model? I want one in white, but I'm worried it might look dumb with the black trays.. which color do you all like best? Any input you have would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Even as a single person I need the nine tray model, so definitely get the bigger one. I sure wish I had the one with the timer.
When you get it, you should check out rene oswald on you tube doing the staple stash video. Let us know what you get! It's such a good investment!

Ignore chat about others... they've not proven to be better than the Ex.

Thanks! I will read through those other threads too, but it sounds like I have the right one.
Stina, here's a way around the timer issue... go to your hardware store (or amazon) and buy an outlet timer. Then you can set it to go on and off when you want. Cheaper than a whole new dehydrator!
I've got the 9 tray Excalibur with the timer and I really like it. I love having the timer, wouldn't want to be without it - works really well for my life style.
I'm also a white appliance person - but I didn't care for the color combo of the white and black, so I went with the black and I'm very happy with the color choice.
Having said all that --- if I was to get a new dehydrator today, I'd take a close look at the Sedona by TriBest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHjSHgG2nGk). I like some of its features, especially the controls being in the front - because I do not care for the controls being in the back (on top) of the Excalibur. I always have to pull the Excalibur out from under the cupboard every time I set it or change the temperature. That's just one example... Oh, another feature I prefer over the Excalibur is the door configuration. I like the Sedona's much better than taking off the Ex.'s door each time getting into the dehydator.. *Ü*

Very cool features. I dislike the take off door and controls on the top as well. I don't have the timer and for my purposes, don't need it. I'm home anyway...
Pretty pric$$y though - way more than the Excalibur according to his website. Maybe it will come down - or go on sale.

I have the white 9 tray with Timer. I think it looks fine - black would look out of place in my kitchen. I think white looks a little less obtrusive since I have it near my white fridge.
The black trays are not an issue at all - most of the time you don't see those. It does have a black door though, but I'm not bothered by it at all.

I too went all out and got the 9 tray with the timer. I opted for black. Had a four tray for years and had always wished I had spent the extra for the 9 tray. You will be surprised how fast you fill it with wonderful things and how often you do use it. The timer is well worth the $$--gives you freedom to not have to be around to turn it off.
