OK, well really, I love what my scale reflects as a result of a raw food diet ;)
I passed a major milestone for me this morning... for the first time in three years my scale is under 200... 199 this morning!!!
Actually out of the last 7 years, all but maybe 9 months have been over 200, so this is a pretty big deal to me. I finally feel like I can be in public and not be ashamed of the way I look. I'm getting a waist again, and my tummy no longer sticks out more than my butt

(BTW, I'm not saying anyone else over 200 should feel ashamed... just saying that for ME, I knew the body that represented me externally did not represent me internally. I felt like I was living a lie.)

Granted I would stay raw even if I wasn't losing weight, but hey, this is COOL

Rock on, girlfriend. You are so inspirational. It just goes to prove if my dear, once addicted to chocolate girlfriend (you) can do it, I can do it, too!

That's fantastic Krista! This weight loss thing is but one major benefit for being raw! You know if you're looking at it long term, you'll know the weight will probably just start coming off and off and off until you reach your body's ideal weight. That should be pretty exciting too!

I can't wait until we all take new pictures in January. Think about that one too!

Be good to yourself,

Tim

I was so happy to read your post about breaking the 200 lb mark you must feel so good and jumping up and down about this. Wow I am so happy for you and somewhere down the road I hope to get down to 200 myself. Just 239 more lbs to go. Good luck to you and may you get to the weight you want. Douglas in Calif.

additional thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement...

Douglas, all I can say is you are in the RIGHT place! Although I do not have as far to go as you, I found myself in a position where I could not lose weight no matter what diet or exercise I did. Raw changed my life, as I'm sure it will for you as well! Please keep us apprised of your progress, and let us know if there's anything we can do for you!

Hey Krista, Congratulations!

You've got to trust me on this. It only gets better from here. Wouldn't it be great if everyone who has struggled with their weight could find raw? It's hard to believe a diet this easy could be such a miracle. Keep up the good work.

Thanks all!

Yes Carlene, it kind of feels to good to be true. I keep thinking I'm going to hit a wall, or the weight will start coming back on, since that's what always happened before on other diets. But I DO know this is the REAL thing!

My mother-in-law was warning me that it's easy to lose the weight, but the hard thing will be keeping it off. I just smiled and said, "I think this time will be different."

Hey Krista, just so you know. I have never hit a plateau. A couple of days here and there I wouldn't lose weight, some times I would even gain half a pound, but it would be gone the next day.

I have been seriously concerned about what will happen when all the weight is gone. Will I take a big sigh and say, okay, tomorrow KFC or will I have changed enough mentally to continue raw. Last week I was obsessing over this. Funny, huh? I used to worry I'd never lose the weight and now I'm all worried about what will happen when it's all gone. Today while hiking I was thinking that as a present to myself when I'm done I will buy a really nice dehydrator. I've gone simple raw this whole time, so I think that will be a real treat. Then I decided I will need to take six months to stabilize the weight before deciding if I want to be 100% the rest of my life. So by deciding that I have pushed the worry off to nine months away instead of three.

As for your mother-in-law, she is wrong and yet she is right. It's not easy losing weight without raw, but it is easy to gain it back. A friend who started raw with me and lost ten pounds her first two weeks has gained 30 in the past three months on SAD. I think when she told me that I knew I would stay raw forever.

Krista,

What an encouragement your post was to me! I don't think I have been under 200 lbs since....sheesh... high school probably. Getting under 200 is also one of my goals and I am getting closer and closer! I am closer to getting under than I have been for years! :p

I am so glad you shared this so that the reality of my own goal is even more real!

Hats off to you for making your goal. I can't wait to hear your progress as your weight goes lower and lower and lower!
