Howdy! My name is Kat. I am a 41 year young, married, full time working mother of 3 spunky kids and one adult step-son. We live in the rural town of Ramona, which is in the mountains east of San Diego. We are an outdoorsy bunch! We have 6 horses, 5 dogs, a couple of chickens and ducks, and some pet rodents. We love anything outside - hiking, riding horses, biking, fishing, off-roading, camping. Adventure is what we do :)

I used to incorporate a lot of raw into our diet when I was having my babies and when they were young. I had a very good friend who owns a company specializing in raw and we shared a lot when our babies were little. As life changed, so did I. I started relying on processed foods way too much. Then, I was in life-changing car accident that resulted in permanent damage. I have thoracic outlet syndrome and chronic myofascial pain syndrome. I have been on narcotic painkillers for 4 1/2 years and have seen a multitude of docs who all agree "There's nothing we can do."

About 3 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with clinical depression and sent down the road with a scrip for cymbalta. After a week of that horrible crud, I KNEW I had to make some drastic changes or I was just going to give up. I went of the meds and started dusting off my food processor and dehydrator. I brought up some websites and pulled out my food prep books.

For the last two weeks, I have been about 80% raw. The best news is that my chronic pain is about 90% GONE! I haven't been pain free in 4 1/2 years. I also take a fish/borage/flax omega supplement and an blood building supplement from Metagenics. The decrease in inflammation has been nothing short of a miracle for me. I have every intention to continue eating raw and found this forum on a google search because I need to talk to others who have "BTDT."

So, here I am :))) Munching on a big bowl of bananas, oranges, strawberries, apples, raisins, coconut, sunflower seeds, walnuts, with a drizzle of raw honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon! Can you say YUMMY?!?
