You posted this is a very old thread... I thought I'd give you your own so people see it and respond!
And... for me... no I don't eat solids when I drink large quantities of juice.

I prefer to drink juice on an empty stomach. So I drink the juice alone and don't eat for maybe a half hour afterwards. It's not about gaining weight at all, but rather just letting the juice work its magic and be processed in my body the easiest way. And depending on the juice, or how much I drink, eating while drinking it (or immediately before/after) could make me feel a little ill.

Ditto for me, too. My GS is early in the AM (after quart of water)
I may have a pice of fruit a couple of hours later.
Lunch and dinner are solids.
I think the only time I had both was a hemp milk shake and a cookie (made in dehydrator)

Juice should be taken before food. It is more readily absorbed that way. You can eat your solids afterwards.

Apparently you should chew your green smoothies as there is an enzyme ? created in the mouth from chewing that aids in dgestions. Else the body will treat your smoothie as a liquid and not digest it properly. Just what I heard...
