Since I got back from my travelling around I have started eating all raw again and also the last couple of days tried taking some chlorella tablets which I really like a lot. However yesterday and today I have noticed a very strong metallic taste in my mouth, almost like blood. Has anyone ever experienced this before? The only thing I can think of is that the chlorella is helping my body detox some toxic metals present in my body. I don't know if this is a normal symptom though or if it is something I should be worried about or could be a sign of a deficiency of some kind etc? I think it started yesterday after I went running in the alps at a very high altitude and then started to cough a little and I tasted something like blood almost. Ever since then I have this strange metalic taste in my mouth. I am curious if anyone else has experienced this or has any ideas what it could be? TIA!

I actually did experience that myself recently. (a couple of months ago) I posted on a couple of email groups and they seemed to think that it was normal detox stuff. I took some chlorella tablets and it didn't take too long to go away. I am thinking 4 to 6 days? something like that. I know it is definitely not fun though while you have it!

Hope that helps :)

Yep,

When I go extremely high raw I get the metalic taste in my mouth. I brush and brush my teeth and just can't get rid of the taste. I'm just guessing that it's detox. Although I had all my silver fillings remove, I do have a few caps and I know there's metal under the caps. I wonder if it's coming from that? If so, when I detox, I'll probably always have that metal coming out  Yucky!

Hey guys thanks for the quick response. It's good to hear that other people have experienced this so at least I know it's nothing to be too worried about. I do have some fillings but they are not silver or gold. I don't know what they are called but it's like the white colored filling that looks like your teeth do. Not sure if there is metal of some kind underneath but I don't think so? Would fillings such as these be likely to cause any kind of metal taste or do you think it is more likely to be a detox symptom? Any thoughts on if it could be a sign of magnesium or some other kind of mineral deficiency? I don't want to worry about it but at the same time I want to be safe ya know

Hi Analeah,

I have white fillings and have never experienced that sensation before. I thought you might like to know ~ perhaps it could be detox? There is plenty of information here with regards to "re-tracing" symptoms so if you have ever been exposed to or ingested metals of any kind this could potentially be coming out of the tissues... hence the taste.

I read a book once (Raw Power ~ and who knows if it's true) but this author said that he still woke up with the taste of cereal in his mouth many years after having gone completely raw. I find that incredible... can't say I've been raw for several years so I am unable to speak from experience.

Hope that helps.

I don't think the white fillings contain metal. All the articles I read that said to remove the silver fillings was to get the mercury out and the recommended the white fillings (like I don't remember what they are called). I just know the white porcelain teeth that I have, that are caps do contain the metal underneath.

Hmm okay cool it's probably not the fillings then. My guess it that it is some kind of metal substance trying to make its way out of my body. I don't know that I have ever ingested or been exposed to metals but I guess some of it probably comes from air. Another thought that came into my mind is maybe it could have something to do with past drug use? But if other people experience this for a short period of time and then it goes away I am hoping it will be something temporary.

Thanks Curtis! It's good to be browsing the boards again. I have just been getting back into eating more raw again after swaying a bit while travelling. I think it really helps to read through the posts and both give and receive information and inspiration to others!

Analeah,

I too have experienced the metalic taste during detoxing. I found when I was exclusively raw for a short period, my body went into dextox, and the radiation that had lodged in my tooth, began to come out and man was it a taste. To combat it, but as not to prohibit the detoax, I put cloves in my mouth and chewed on some mint leaves, that assisted with the metallic taste. it lasted a couple of days.

Hope this helps

Hi Analeah,

I agree with the other posters, and I would scrape my tongue at least every morning and every evening. We detox though the tongue as well, and it's good to clean off that white film.

Best wishes,
Melanie

I have also experienced that so it is nice to know there are others out there.

Hey cool thanks for the suggestions! I am definately going to try the cloves or mint thing to see if it helps. The metallic taste doesn't seem too bad today so maybe I am over it? I also wonder if it had something to do with the water I was drinking in combination with any detox symptoms or from taking chlorella. Corky when did this happen to you and how long did it last for? Were you taking chlorella before or after it started?
