Hi All, I am thinking of doing a 1 day juice fast mid-week at work. I do NOT own a juicer. I can hand squeeze many oranges, lemons, limes for a few glasses of fresh citrus juice. Then, on my way to work, i can stop at my local place and get some (non organic unfortunately) fresh juice (they most have carrot and i think beat). But, otherwise, i am not sure what i should/can do :/ I really want to pull it off, in the past i did a combo of bottled juice and fresh juices.. but i was working from home. Is it smart/feasible to attempt this at work? I figure - whats the worse case scenario - i do a lot of #1 mostly and maybe get a little tired ? I can always have some fresh fruit as a backup.

My question is - am i better off doing a semi-non-organic juice fast, or a all organic smoothie fast? I can do either of those options.

At work i am required to still bring my A-game but i really liked how i felt last year doing a 1-day / week juice cleanse/fast.

Thanks all :) :wuv

An all organic smoothie fast, of course :) You can take off some of the pulp from the smoothie with a cheese cloth.

All organic, is, of course better yet, if you're talking about JUST citrus, that may be hard on your system... then again, maybe not.

If what you did previously worked for you, look at how you can step it up a bit and do that. Better than stressing out it being organic or not, eh?

If you have a good blender, as Dime says, you can blend fruits/veggies with water (if necessary), then strain and you'll have ~ juice!

I did a 7 day water fast while working 16 hour days once... I wouldn't recommend doing that, but I think a one day fast will be just fine. :-)

It depends on what you are hoping to achieve?

It is a break from digestion? It is a rest from digestion? Is it just a break...

Cause you aren't going to go into any deep healing in one day so that point is mute (it would be if it were a longer fast though).

I would suggest... you do whatever feels the most right to you. That's usually what your body wants.

Thank you!

To answer your questions, what I would like to accomplish is:

1) weight loss (of course lol)

2) health and healing (i have been hard on my system the past few weeks on and off raw like a roller coaster)

3) cleansing

So, how many days should I attempt to fast? I like the idea of making smoothies, and removing the pulp. I can start monday w/ that, and go from there. If all goes well, I will shoot for Tuesday, and maybe even try for a several day fast. Never done that before, but i always had great results w/ even a 1 day juice fast (and part of it would come from icky bottled juices)

Thanks all :)

ps - would eating a watermelon at work break my fast? I have heard of some people doing a watermelon fast. This sounds appealing especially after indulging in some really salty icky foods this w/end...

My boss is very into raw and having us do a company fast the week of March 9th. It's totally optional, but the first two days are a citrus detox, then people order online from Blueprint Cleanse for the next two days. The citrus is pretty easy to do - he has us get fresh squeezed (non-pasturized) grapefruit and orange juice from whole foods, and that gets mixed in with distilled water and a small amount of lemon juice (easy to do at home).

I think you could totally do that for one day, but I'm not sure how much benefit you'll get from one day - he's always had the company cleanese have at least 2-3 days of citrus.

You are not going to achieve any of those things on a one day fast. All you'll really do is give your digestion a little break.

I'd suggest 10 days... for starters.

Nope you can't eat watermelon when you fast. It restarts the digestion and diminishes the purpose of your fast. When we fast we want to rest the digestion as much as possible (juice or simply water) so that our body can use all it's available energy for healing and cleansing/detox. If those 3 items you listed is what you want to achieve... then a juice fast will assist your body to do just that.

Of course you can simply do a mono fast... I don't particularly agree with them... as I believe we should allow our body to decide what it wants, not our mind. But it's your choice of course.

And no bottled juices... none nada... brings you zero health and lots of sugars... and if you want to release weight... just sugars aren't going to assist you to do that. Also hard on your body/organs. So please don't choose that option. It's not a healthy one.
