I am considering a colonic to go with my new found way of eating. I was wondering if anyone had any comments or suggestions as to the benefits or disadvantages of having a colonic while on a Raw diet.

Having colonics whether on a raw diet or not is totally personal. Some people find them quite complimentary to their raw diet though. It is especially helpful for someone who has bm issues currently or a long history of poor diet and/ or elimination. Also helpful if there are emotional issues to release, as the colon is said to hold negative and old emotions from the past.

If you think you might be interested start doing some research, ask your own internal guidance/trust your intuition and find a local licensed colon hydrotherapist that you can easily communicate with and that you feel comfortable with.

My personal experience? I actually enjoy how I feel after I've got good and 'cleaned' out. I like to go every 6 months or so for a 'cleaning' as general maintenance. Once you have been on the raw diet and get really clean, I think the colon cleansing is needed less and less....all of which really is personal. Every person will have their own ideas and their own experiences.

Good luck:heart

Yeah, I want to do it so that I can eliminate all of the junk that I used to eat. But was unsure of whether or not it needed to be done if Im only eating raw foods now.

Since you are eating all raw, your system is doing a slower colon cleanse. I had a series of 10 done years ago. It was spread out over 6 weeks. Felt better and lighter but no big surprises or anything. Have heard others state the lighter feeling, cleaner, etc. A lot of the natural healers firmly believe in them--a clean colon is the basis for good health. If it is not clean, then your blood is not clean. I guess they stated it as 'what is not eliminated is recirculated.'

Try one and see how you feel.

One of the things that I found most helpful was emotional release that went along with the physical releasing. The usual cravings for the old SAD food went away as I went through my series of colonics. It was like I still had memory or imprint from the past, including food habits stored in the 'junk' in my colon and when that was gone so were the old ways/habits.

I do them at home and I love it. I bought a Colema board a few years ago.
There are quite a few advocates out there (myself included) who think it's a great addition to a raw lifestyle and there are some out there who think it's a must with a raw life.
I agree with rawnhealthy about the emotional detox and cravings issue. Another thing that's often discussed in relation to this is physical detox and how colonics apparently help ease that. I have never had severe detox but I've always done colonics, so I can't say for sure if the colonic is the reason or not, you know what I mean? I just wasn't willing to find out the hard way and I had read too much about the benefits of colonics so I was convinced of their value.

And actually, I've not come across anything that discusses disadvantages. Opinions seem to be either in favor or neutral, but I haven't found anything against it. Well, let me clarify that. I don't waste time reading things by conventional doctors or conventional medical establishments like the AMA. I'm SURE that we'd find some scare propaganda there! Among sources that favor holistic health and alternative health practices, I have not found anything that speaks against colonics.

I'm new here and pulling up this old thread, because I have a question...

Can someone tell me if at home colonics (such as with colema board) are just as effective as professional ones? What are the differences?
Thanks so much. Also any home colonic systems recommended?

Looking forward to the raw journey with ya'll.

Blessings,
Heather

http://www.rawspirit.org/bloodgas.html <---excellent article. I read it the first time over a year or so ago. And I've read it a couple times since.

Finally instead of being ashamed of a colonic I decided to have an open mind. And I'm glad that I did. After my 6 or 7th colema board session I woke up the next morning and spit out a parasite from my sinuses. I was sooo ecstatic.

Colonics/colema board make a difference. And that article will give some valuable info as to why. If you want some serious detail then get the book from Dr. Jensen titled "Guide to Better Bowel Care" After reading it you'll understand why having a colon full of toxic waste causes pains in various places in the body.

I don't know if I would be estatic or a little freaked out. I am starting a parasite cleanse soon. Did you order the colema board. I just ordered the enema bag kit. RAW Angel Mom had worms after her 8 day water fast.

Are you fasting or just eating a raw diet with it. Did you find out what kind of parasite? Tape worm, roundworm etc.???

I didn't find out what it was, it was about 2 inches long. My guess though is that I've had it for a long time. I recall all my life only being able to breath from one nostril at a time. And now I know why.

I did order the colema board. I kept reading and reading about colonics and finally I decided that I needed to have one.

I'm just eating raw currently. And I suppose it would be fair also to say that I bought an ultimate zapper. And I used it for probably 5 days then I quit for about 2 weeks and then that's when the parasite came out. It was during those two weeks that I was using the colema. I don't know if the zapper killed it or the diet or the colema or a combination. But I do know that because of the colema my body was dumping mucus from my sinuses every morning.

I saw RAW Angel Mom's post on the water fast. I started one on Monday and was planning on a 7 day fast , but I just couldn't waste my last avacado so I broke down and ate it instead of sending it to the compost. I have a couple other things that I don't want to go to waste so in a couple of days I'm probably gonna go on a water fast and evict all those buggers.

Just thought of something I wanted to add. Angela Stokes Monarch had been raw vegan for I don't know how many years, also had previous colonic sessions. But after this ones session she felt a burning sensation and asked the colon hydrotherapist why she turned up the heat on the water to which the therapist replied, "I didn't". Then Angela passed a mass of worms from her colon.

I'll try to find the youtube video of it. But it surprised me that even though she was raw vegan her body still had parasites. It just goes to show that we need to get proactive and evict em even though we are eating healthy.

next time ... if there is a next time, take a picture so it can be identified!

Respiratory parasites tend to originate in tropical areas but due to the way humans travel about so much they get brought to cooler climes.

I didn't even think of taking a picture.

I just found that video with Angela. She doesn't actually say she saw parasites come out though, and I thought she did.

Here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4eos3ftcPo&feature=related

"edit" -- I don't know if this actually important, but Angela does talk about the parasites she had in another video after being raw vegan for so many years. I just wanted to add that in case anyone was thinking that a raw vegan diet was enough to get rid of em. One has to get proactive to get em out.

pro colonics do same thing as home , its just placing water into the g.i. tract in both cases . at links a kit for home , use in shower with a 5 gallon bucket outfitted with a toilet type seat sold by outdoorsman places for hunters . also place rubber mat or towel / rag / etc on tub floor under bucket so dont scratch tub . link :http://www.amazon.com/Shower-Enema-System-Douche-Nozzle/dp/B003KKU39A/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1325114253&sr=8-26

I am curious there are lung flukes that will go to your lungs. These can be coughed up. If there is one there might be more.but Im not aware of any parasites that live in your sinuses. Maybe it was escaping the GI tract. I am very curious about parasites now. If I have any come out I will post pictures. Im doing juicing and a parasite cleanse.

Maybe it was escaping the GI tract.

Not the most obvious route for it to take. Very Very unlikely.

Considering colonic cleanser to go with your eating plan brings more positive results to your body. Colon cleansers (http://www.wellbeingproductreviews.com) simply cleanse and eliminates unwanted toxins/waste lurking on the intestine. The results are overwhelming and the feeling of being light is a guarantee

I have done colonics in the past, but am a much bigger fan of coffee enemas.
