After reading about it, I'd like to try it. What's the best way to get it?
I don't have a juicer and don't want to get one, so buying/growing it is out.
Can anyone recommend a good source of powdered wheatgrass that retains all of the benefits?

If you have a Jamba Juice http://www.jambajuice.com/ or other juice bar in your area you could stop by and try some fresh squeezed WG juice.
Good luck.

A lot of the health food stores with juice bars most usually have it, too.
I bought a manual juicer for $100 so I can juice as often and as much as I want. Cinch to grow a flat, too.
I heard awhile back that there was a frozen product on the market which may contain more nutrients.
Good luck.

well instead of getting a masticating juicer you could just masticate it in your mouth via chewing. I've chewed wheatgrass before, you extract a good bit of juice out of it. ALso you can buy REALLY cheap manual grass juicers for like $30. Here's one here:

If you're going to get a powder just make sure it's dehydrated at temperatures below 100 degrees. But honestly it's prolly cheaper to just grow it yourself and either chew or use a cheap juicer.

I read that growing your own is not that helpful, because to get the maximum benefit it must be grown over many months in really deep soil, which is not possible at home.
Its hard to find unbiased information with so many sites trying to sell what they claim is the best - this is what happens with every food fad.

Lol, yeahhh. I grow it in water/soil with sea salt to add in minerals. I don't think the grass goes in that deep to the soil, I mean maybe when it grows like HUGE but usually you trim the grass at like 7 inches, when it's still young. I would ignore any marketing hype, and as fun as it is being a perfectionist, it's better to just get things going, THEN worry about getting things right, lol. Of course thats eaiser said then done I suppose but meh. You'll figure it out.

For fresh squeezed juicing the WG is usually grown in shallow trays and is harvested when the young sprout is 4 to 7 inches tall. The soil is more to give the plant a growing medium for stability and water and not for the soil nutrients because the sprout is getting its nutrients from the seed where the plant has stored a potent but limited supply of the best nutrients it can supply to its new sprout to give it a good start in growing. After the first cutting the soil, seed and remaining sprout are composted as the plant starts taking its nutrients from the soil instead of the seed and has far fewer nutrients available.
