Hey

Sorry if this has been asked before. How long do green smoothies keep. I usually have one after work but would love to start having one in the morning before work, however, I don't live alone. I get up around 4am to get ready for work. I would wake the whole house up if I used the blender that early. I was thinking I could make it the night before, refrigerate it and just shake it up in the morning. Would this be ok? Or would it defeat the purpose of drinking a green smoothie?

TIA

Edit: my title should say 'long' not low. I shouldn't be messaging after midnight lol.

Of course we all know that it is best fresh but when Victoria Butenko was carrying out the original experiment she only made them every 2 days and she found this satisfactory.

I usually make enough for 2 days--well, I guess really it is a day and half.

I thought Victoria said 36 hours?

I don't know the scientific answer to your question, but we used to do this for my husband quite often. I'd make his green smoothie up the night before and he'd drink it for breakfast. *Ü*

I personally do not like the taste of green smoothies that have been sitting around.

In my house, I make my green smoothie in the morning while my DH is still sleeping. At the beginning it was horrible, but he learned how to sleep through it and now it doesn't even bother him. His body has adjusted to it :)

With young children, probably not so much though, I suppose.

I fill my bottles as full as I can and then don't shake them til I am ready to drink the smoothie. The fiber protects the nutrients from oxidation. I usually try to drink them within 24 hours but have waited longer. My intentions are to drink my green smoothie between breakfast and lunch. My husband will sometimes not drink his so I end up drinking it the next day to make sure it doesnt go to waste.
