Hello all! I'm 33 years old and I'm just starting out in this lifestyle. I am not 100% raw - or even close. Right now I eat one raw item per meal. I aspire to a 75%-80% raw diet within the year. I am moving very slowly with this because cold turkey and I do not get along, and this is my life I'm changing not just my diet. :)

I have been overweight for a very long time, and I am tired of the diet game. No more scales, no more counting, no more feeling like a failure because I did not keep off the weight I lost while "on" a diet, no more coveting that number on a clothes tag.

I just want to feel normal. I want to hiking on weekends, go for morning runs, practice yoga a few minutes at night, meditate before bed, and eat the best quality/healthy food I can everyday for the rest of my life. :)

I've been reading and learning about raw/live foods for a while, and I'm so excited to have found a community of people who are living the raw foods lifestyle. I hope to learns lots from you all, and I wish us all good health and happiness.

Hello GG!

It sounds like you're really in touch with yourself--being that you understand that cold turkey doesn't work for you.

I think you're taking a nice slow ease into the raw food lifestyle by integrating MORE healthy foods into your life, which won't leave as much room for the junky stuff.

Some ideas for you: raw brownies, nut pates, lots of your favorite fresh fruit, and you might find that green smoothies work well. Some people decide to make a green smoothie before every meal, that way they are getting in lots of nutritious stuff and filling up on that, which leaves less room for the SAD food.

Best of luck and keep us posted!
