Hello,

Glad to have found this site. I am 33 years YOUNG living with Cystic Fibrosis. I'm choosing a RAW food in hopes of cleansing, regulating, detoxifying and LIVING a lot longer:) I look forward to sharing my journey with everyone and learning ways to make this an easier (not easy) but easier way to live. If you have any words of wisdom, guidance, blogs I should read etc, PLEASE let me know. I need all the assistance I can get.

I have a few RAW food books and have attended a few hands on classes. I have a REAL challenge with being HUNGRY, which you will learn is an issue for someone with CF. I don't absorb, so my body thinks I should keep eating! I AM CONSTANTLY HUNGRY.

I've tried eating raw on and off this past year and managed for a total of 2 days in a row! BOOO! I can eat every 30 minutes....a salad full of veggies and fruits big enough for 3 people...and 30 minutes later, I'm starving! It is a challenge most people wish they had I'm told, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I weight 117lb on average...and eat for a 300lb man.

I plan to detail this journey on this site....but my main focus is HOW to make it happen! HOW DO YOU JUST EAT RAW? WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU CRAVE? I AM CONSTANTLY IN MOTION AND HAVE TO TAKE FOOD WITH ME EVERYWHERE....how do i accomadate that?

challenged, intrigued, determined,

the amazing bd

Hello Bethe007, as a person that has family members with CF, I can completely appreciate why you mention your age when speaking about your condition. My wife and I are embarking on the same journey you've taken, and the principle motivators for us has been the benefits we've read about and felt since transitioning into the vegan lifestyle, and the informative documentaries we've seen about Gerson therapy and other advocates of vegan, raw lifestyles.

For people dealing with CF, an immediate benefit of consuming raw foods is that it can eliminate the need for taking supplemental digestive enzymes. This is HUGE since those enzymes pose tons of undesirable side effects. An optimal raw food intake will also strengthen the body and enable it to fend off against infections.

It's been hard to find "testimonials" of people with CF who commit to raw food intake, so I hope you're able to continue contributing the results of your experience. For our part, we'll do the same.

We're at the stage where we've been a bit overwhelmed with identifying the juicing equipment we need to get. The Gerson Clinic only recommends the Norwalk, or the Champion with a hydraulic press. We want to go with the latter option, but have read some discouraging reviews of the Champion unit. The Norwalk, while being a great machine, carries a price tag that is not justified by its components or manufacturing. I'm still going through the forums here to see what people recommend as far as juicing is concerned.
