Hello everyone! I am new here.. have been lurking for a bit, waiting to jump in and finally have made the commitment so here I am !
I am starting this off by juicing for 30 days then I'll continue with a raw diet/lifestyle thereafter.
I used to eat pretty healthy , I didnt touch dairy , red meat , limited the greasy food and was at a great weight for me.. then I met my husband about 7 years ago and slowly but surely I started eating like him. Now I have gained weight, my hair is unhealthy and mentally I feel miserable.
The biggest challenge facing me is going to be prepping his meals and my meals at the same time. In the past the easiest thing was just to eat what he was eating. But its not about what is the easiest anymore, its about me!
For this reason I decided to fast for 30 days first. This should help kill if not lower the volume to my sugar and flour cravings. This month is not only about fasting but prepping myself for the months and years to come. I plan to incorpaorate my raw food diet into my husbands diet.. he doesnt know this yet! hehehe I will make his meals but I will incorporate a side dish into his meal that is going to be raw and will be my main dish. Time to turn the tables around!
Soo glad to meet you all! You are all a great inspiration and I look forward to this new lifestyle and adventure! :coolbanana

Thanks guys for the warm wishes and thank you Laura-jane for your belief in me! I appreciate the support . Yes it will be a hard trek.. yesterday was a hard day for me. I had an awful headache with no energy and out of commission most of the day because of it. When it finally subsided I was running around trying to accomplish all that I couldnt earlier in the day.
This morning is different. I feel good.. woohoo. My husband has also been supportive with my decision. That makes a world of difference. But at the end of the day no matter how much support I have it boils down to me and my determination. To help I made a 'juicing' calendar and a list of my goals that I keep in eyesight. Should help keep me focused.
The west texas desert winds are blowing today ...ugly ugly ugly.. but I am looking beyond the dust storm to the sunny days coming soon. woohoo!

Hi Texas,
I just joined here too...and can relate to your story. I've been married 7 years too (7 years too long lol ).I allowed myself to be sucked in to eating the way my husband eats. I take full responsibility for this happening but I'm moving forward now and know what I need to do to be healthy. My son is almost 18 and my husband is a grown man so if they want to eat cooked food..they are now cooking for themselves. I am not preparing cooked meals any longer!! This has helped me to stick to my program tremendously. I've also been getting my son to eat smoothies with greens and even though he's still cooking, his diet is better. :) I'm on my second month now. If I can do it living with the negativity of my husband, you can do it with a supportive husband :)!!

i have been with my husband for 8 years. when we first met i was a vegetarian and very healthy. over the years i have just picked up his eating habits since i didn't want to make two seperate meals everyday and consequently picked up over 40 lbs. going raw at first was hard. i did not have his support and he even refused to taste anything i made. it has been 6 months now and last weekend he demanded that he go raw! only making one meal is so much easier, they all come around eventually. i think he got jealous of my results. wishing you good luck.

Christy-- at least your husband and son are cooking their own meals! My husband is supportive but only in spirit. I am still doing his cooking. :( And I really dont see that changing any time soon. lol.. My son (21 yrs) on the other hand is very health conscious but he lives in another town going to college. But hopefully we can both get our husbands to join us like julie-imp did!
Thats awesome julie-imp! The good thing about my hubby is that he will try things here and there after hours and days of persuasion. lol. We just have to stick to our guns and hopefully they will come around like yours did! And if they dont then they wont but we cant stop!
But seeing that soo many others are in the same boat but succeeding really gives me more confidence that it can be done. The hardest part is getting over the hurdle and getting him used to the change (and me used to making two meals ha!)
I started a juice here and there several weeks ago. But I would be prepping the juice the same time I was cooking his meal. That didnt work out well for me. So now I start making my juice 30 minutes prior to making his dinner put the juice in the frig make his dinner then I can enjoy my juice while he eats too. That is workiing much better. I will learn more as the days go by... plus I am scrounging through the older posts in this forum and learning more from everyones questions, recipes, advice and rants and raves.
Glad to have found this cozy little forum! :coolbanana
Glad you found us too!
Funny how those husbands can help steer us in the unhealthiest diet directions! Of course... many folks easily resist... but I sure didn't! My husband was cooking up a storm and bringing me out to eat and to parties lots when we got married and were dating.
Next thing you know, I was not doing too well. I had eaten pretty well, comparatively, until we got married.
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? Next thing you know, my diet got me to the point of changing. Because I had to feel better!
SO, here you are! And you are doing the same! You are rocking it out to get all this juicing stuff figured out and to comb through for inspiration! We are RIGHT HERE WITH YOU!
And it truly IS an adventure! But the best one ever!!
