PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!
Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:
Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."
The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.
Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!
There is a great deal of info in this stickie (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=62026). Please take a moment to read it.
And here is a thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61603) where we share our favourite recipes. If you haven't contributed yours, please do!
Here's my commitment:
I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast tomorrow in the morning but not today.
I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious out-moded things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I am here to continue to be mindful - focusing on this moment and not anticipating the next one.
I am here to share my experience and gain knowledge from what others share.
I'm here to feel whole. I'm here to give my beautiful, cherished body a break from digesting food!!!
This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.
Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.
We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!
Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!
Ever wonder how the Fellowship began?
Back when I first began fasting there were the Fasting Bandits. This was a group of amazing people who fasted together all the time. The 'theme' was a convoy of truckers. I was the water tanker! :throwhearts: Over time the Fasting Bandits moved on with their lives and weren't around much at all. A few of the members are still here... but seldom fasting anymore.
I was missing the camaraderie of the FB and was always hoping to find a new group to fast with, find support with and to support myself. The Fellowship of Fasters began because Cathy and I watch the movie Lord of the Rings a LOT and we fast together a LOT as well. We began speaking to each other as though we were Golum - and our juice was our precious.
And then the Fellowship of Fasters was born!
So to be a member... you simply need to choose a name, put it in your signature line and love fasting. You can become a life-time member or one for a short time... it's up to you.
I'm here for the long haul. My water tanker is here beside me - because I'll always be a Fasting Bandit... but now my precious walks beside on a slower path than the truckers... enjoying the grass at my feet and the flowers growing out of the cracks and crevices in the rocks around me.

cool. i really want to do another extended fast... but my body seems to only want to fast for a few days at a time. i'm patiently waiting for it to get on board with me LOL
I'm planning to just eat a breakfast (or more like 2 breakfasts :)) this month, so it will be something like half day fast month.
Very curious to see how this goes.

I'm okay. Not enjoying this eating part of my life but can't stop. Sucks to be me. I sooooo want to do a nice decent fast... at least 45 days. But alas, I have to wait for my "whole Self" to be on board. :(
My hubby did a 1/2 day fast the other day...

Hello! I am new here.. have been lurking for a bit wanting to plunge in and easing my way into this. For the past several weeks I have been enjoying a juice here and there while trying to eat a raw if at least vegan diet.
No holding back anymore! I plan to fast for 30 days then continue on with a raw diet/lifestyle.
I am not sure what is the proper way to fast but I initially plan to juice as much as I want, what I want and when I want so that I will continue on and not have the desire to stop. So for the first half of the month I will juice as much fruits as I like. then as the month moves along I will incorporate more veggie juices until I am enjoying an occasional fruit juice.
This morning I juiced apple, orange, pineapple, limes, cuke, a grapefruit and blended that with coco water. yummy!
I'll have the same for lunch except I will add wheat grass and spirulina.. double yum! weird as it sounds I love the taste of those two. but it has to be ice cold .. so I throw some ice cubes into the mix!
Looking forward to where the end of the month will land me! Even doing the juice here and there for the past several weeks has shown an improvement in my hair health!
... and so here I go!:coolbanana

congrats and welcome!!!
my only advice to you is to not get too rigid in what you will and won't consume during your fast. if you body starts leaning more towards one thing... then allow that. our bodies are soooo intelligent. they know what they need.
i'm starting tomorrow... looking forward to it. i thought about starting today... last night and again this morning but i think tomorrow is better for me. so... tomorrow it is!!!

i'm so excited to fast tomorrow. i picked up some organic parsley, organic peppers, and I have heaps of cucumbers, pineapples, apples, lemons, kale, beets and greens, celery... all I need to do is pick up more tomatoes on Sunday - cause I'll use them up tomorrow and I'm set for a bit.

Hi, I'm new to this forum,
but found it when I was looking around in prep for my fast same time as yours.
I was going to do the master cleanse which (I have successfully done twice before), but decided it was too harsh and am going with a juice fast, 7 days -ish. already prepped for three now, and am ready.
I have never done a juice fast and thought I would do a fruit / green juice combo and spaced out with lemon water ala MC.
I am reading differing things on mixing fruit and vegs, I was mainly planning on doing them fruit with fruit and veg with veg, separate juices same day.
any thoughts on this? or juice the same thing all day..
Also, citrus (orange) yes or no, or sparing, and I guess no grapefruit.. can I mix banana in my juice (w. blender) or is that not juicing?
And lastly bee pollen, yay, or Nayyyyyyyyyyy.
Thanks for any reply, or suggestions of elswhere to go.
Good luck on your fasts!!!! rabbit rabbit.:encore:http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/encore.gif

welcome!
this is just my opinion but:
why no grapefruit? i loooove having grapefruit especially with some apple and ginger in it. mmmm yummy.
orange... go ahead. enjoy!
bananas and avocados do not juice and nope... blending is not juice fasting. you can do a blended fast... but it's not juice fasting. the digestion will not slow down like it does with juices. (goes to sleep on just water).
you can mix apple with anything - fruit, greens, veggie... doesn't matter.
i don't worry about food combining. if a juice doesn't sit well with me, then i don't drink it (at this time). cause sometimes things just don't jive with the body. doesn't mean they never will.
i loooooooove tomato (fruit), cucumber (fruit), beet (veggie), greens, red pepper (fruit), garlic, ginger, fennel (veggie), celery (veggie) juice. so as you can see... mixing them doesn't matter to me.
bee pollen... go for it. you can do raw live honey as well if you wish. spirulina, chlorella, kelp powder... all yeses.
hope that assists you! and again... welcome!

Hello friends!
I'm starting a brief 5 day fast today (saturday). A mini spring cleaning. I've been 100% raw for the past 5 days which hasn't happened in a while and I'm feeling great! Now my bad cravings have reduced and my good cravings - for JUICE - have increased greatly. I'm craving grapefruit juice more than anything! Can't wait, these next 5 days will be great!!!!

I'm in such great company... how can this fast be anything less than what I dreamed and probably will be much more!!! (((hugs))) It gives me so much assistance to have more of the fellowship of fasters with me. :excited:
I'm here... ready, willing, and able to do this!
My hope is to go 45 days... my head is in it (had a good talk with it this morning) and my heart is 100% HERE!
So let's gift our bodies something beautiful... let's gift our bodies a vacation! A nice vacation from digestion and an opportunity to do some cleansing, some healing and some spiritual growth.
I'm sooooooooo :excited: and I just can't hide it! I'm about to release control and I think I like it!!! *song from the Pointer Sisters*
Weighed myself this morning. Not thrilled with my weight. I'm up 9 pounds... but I'll reduce that through more walks, more rebounding, some NIA - which I haven't done in quite awhile and upping my water intake.
Oh and I got a new piercing yesterday... so this fast will assist with it's healing which is lovely. They said it would take 1-3 months for it to heal... I'm hoping this fast and Reiki will reduce that tremendously!
*precious... they have come... they have gathered for the precious... willing... wanting... the precious... *

*we do... we wants it... we needs it... we craves it... none of those yucky crunchy bits... we want the clear, sweet, yummy nectars... ahhhh the nectars... we loves it... *
The fellowship gathers in a meadow and sits in a circle. They discuss how they will achieve this goal together... hand in hand... supporting each other. Frodo knows it's a big challenge but as long as he puts one foot in front of the other, he can do this.

Thank you for your comments, it gives me the confidence, and exactly what I want to hear!
Did you mean that Water alone slows down the process too?
I looked a little more into the interaction of Grapefruit with several medications, (notably one that I am on..) inhibiting their metabolism. Guess I'll give those grapefruits to a neighbor and stick with oranges!
lots of energy, and bouts of hunger. Need to take some out of door breaks!
good to all of ya!

I just had a lovely super spicy tom juice... wow... i couldn't finish it all... so i've got it on the counter and i'll finish it in an hour or so. sooooo yummy.
Just drank coconut water today. My daughter and my son's g/f and I did a 1000 piece puzzle... all hearts! What a lovely way to spend a rainy day together!

i think you are asking about my comments about water fasting.
water fasting puts your digestion to sleep.
juice fasting puts your digestion to a state of rest.
blended fasts leaves your digestion fully awake but gives it a break from heavy digestion.
raw foods leaves your digestion fully awake and although it is working, it's still getting a lot of assistance from the enzymes in the foods - so digestion is assisted.
SAD diet... hard on digestion - makes everything work overtime.
hope that clears things up for ya.

04-02-2011, 08:37 PM
it was sooooo good. i love to add cinnamon to my coconut water. makes it feel... special. i don't know why... it just does LOL
i had a bit of a headache at one point, but it's because i needed to go make myself some juice. i had some more coconut water and then left the remainder of the puzzle (with the girls) and made myself my tom juice (blend)... my headache was gone once i had my toms.

Wow... what a day. I started my day with my green drink... and then I took my kiddos to meet up with some friends to go hiking. The hike was supposed to be around 2 hours and it ended up taking us 4 hours!! It was kind of hard on my 4 and 7 year old, and I had to carry them part of the way. It was still a wonderfully, beautiful day today. 80 degrees!!
Since we totally missed our lunch, we stayed at my friends for lunch. I wanted to stay as close to juice as I could, plus, thats all my body was craving. She had some oranges and I juiced those in my mouth
When I got home I quickly made me some pineapple/cucumber/apple juice with coconut water. It was soooooooooooooooooooo amazingly good!! I loved it!!
Anyway, that was our day :throwhearts:

Yesterday was a bad day for me... had a headache that put me out of commission for most of the day. I feel much better today! woohoo.. Gonna take the dogs for a walk now. Have already juiced apples, pineapple, cuke, oranges, grapefruit . Blended that with coco water. It made 48 oz so I refrigerated a good portion and will enjoy soem more when I get back from walking.
I bought lots of tomatoes yesterday. Will juice that later on for dinner.
Question for you guys and gals:
What is the longest time you have juiced?
I noticed Aleesha that you have juiced 200+ days... was that consecutive? Thats is soo impressive!
:coolbanana
I keep reading freshest is best! Do you juice each and every juice or make a good batch and rergierate it for later consumption?
Time to walk the monsters.. Have a great day y'all!
Aleesha Sattva
04-03-2011, 10:29 AM
i've done 209 days... and yup... consecutive. last year i fasted about 300 in total (approx.)
i do whatever works for me at the time. i juice and take some with me, keep some in the fridge for later... i just fresh... just whatever works for my day. it's always changing.
last night i dreamt i was making apple/parsley/ginger juice. and since i have all those in my fridge... guess what i'm making this morning? ahhh my mouth is salivating just thinking bout it!!!
i have a bit of 'odor' to my pits... which i never do. don't wear anything on them either. but yesterday afternoon i noticed it and this morning i needed to wipe them with a damp cloth. my throat feels like it's full of mucus... so this is good. i'm glad my body is embracing this fast as much as "I" am.
*the precious... i feel it calling me... it's wants me to follow... it wants me to lead... it's calling... i can't resist the precious... can we... we can't... we knows it... no sense fighting it... we just goes with it... *

oh when i made my juice this morning... with my greenstar... i couldn't even wait to pour it out from my collection bowl. i just stuck my glass straw in and sipped it back. LOL did that with two bowls full (so a litre in total) and then made myself some more juice. another 500 ml for right then and i'm just finishing up the other litre.
oh man my body wanted this so much.
i went out for a lovely walk... an hour... it was great.
now i'm cuddled under a blanket... keeping warm!
i'm loving how 'in' this fast i am... i hope i stay here. this is a nice place to be!

Oh my... coconut water with cinnamon?! That sounds like the most heavenly dessert a juice faster could drink! I think I'll have that tonight!
Puzzles are my absolute favorite rainy day activity to do, Aleesha. I'm about to start my newest one.... 1000 pieces of all butterflies! Yay!
Soooo.... the plan WAS to start my fast yesterday and go for 5 days. I had a very bad day. I had a fight with my husband (we are fine now) and it caused me to emotionally binge on some pretty awful foods. I wasn't going to admit this, but I feel so close to the fellowship and I know it's safe to confess to you. I'm only human (and part elf, hee hee)! Anyway, my body and mind hated me for it today. I nourished myself with some fresh OJ, then a little bit of grapefruit juice, coconut water and I did drink kombucha (not totally good for a fast, I know, but anything is better than what I did to myself yesterday).
Hugs to all!
Aleesha Sattva

(((hugs))) to you my little butterfly Lady Laka! I know the feeling well... wanting to fast and then not. I'm so glad you are here with us today.
I just sipped on some coconut water with cinnamon... it was divine!!!
I'll be picking up some more organic parsley tomorrow and making more of the lovely apple/parsley/ginger/lemon juice i made today. it was like a little bit of heaven. i used the entire bunch in the 2.5 litres of juice i made. i could have used a bit more... mmmmm I would love more now but I have vehicle and it's pouring rain outside... I don't want it that bad LOL
Day two done... I'm ready, willing, and able for day three to begin!!!

Last night I juiced tomatoes.. first time juicing tomatoes.. and boy howdy! It was light, refreshing and oh soo good! I threw in tomatoes, spinach, parsley, cilantro, celery, and limes. Definitely doing that one again! Had my husband taste it and he said never again! lol He does like the fruit ones that I make though.
This morning I used apples, limes, a cuke, an orange, and pineapple. Blended that with coco water. Yummy! Drank half of that and will have the rest after I get back from walking the dogs.
I am going to start a juice log of what I juice and rate the juices. Last nights was soo good I dont want to forget exactly what I put in it!
The coco water with ciannamon sounds delish , need to try that later on today. Can you use all spices when you juice? Can you use salt?
Aleesha Sattva
04-04-2011, 10:18 AM
try adding garlic and ginger to your tom juice. it's lovely!!! and don't forget spices. you can add any you desire.
you can use any spices you want... and yes you can use salt. i use a smoked sea salt when i'm fasting. i have a huge variety that i order online from the states.
i'm really wanting more apple juice today. so i'm going to make that in a short while. just waiting for the house to wake up first. LOL - moring of day three... down 5 pounds so far.

I'm feeling better today, though I am feeling like a nice BM would release a lot of my tummy issues right now. I feel a little sluggish. Haven't had anything to drink yet, but I have green juice waiting for me... thinking I'll add some gingers and lemon to it. Yum yum yummmmm!
I just realized that I've actually never juiced tomatoes before! How crazy... after all the fasts I've done over the last 4 years, not one tomato was juiced. I think I'll try that this time around.
Oh, and I decided to fast until April 12th. Was going to make it a shorter one, but I like the way this feels. My in-laws are visiting on the 13th so I want to end it before they arrive.

i'm in heaven. total bliss and i'm completely in the zone!!!

the tomatoes! really help!
with garlic and some (sea) salt (and a bunch of everything else. delicious.
How do you feel about cashew milk on a juice fast? (soaked cashews / water/cinnamon/maple syrup) there is a cleanse in NY that uses it for one of there 5 or 6 juices of the day.
as for BM, I drink a senna tea at night, then by the am I've got some business going. Usually I also drink a few cups of warm water with sea salt and lie down for a bit til it hurts.. then vavoom. ala master cleanse.
As I would love to get a colonic, but none here.
Anyhow, finishing day four and feel great. light and a shade younger!

i completely disagree with any nut mylk while fasting. it's not the same. it's like cooked broth... it gets your digestion going... and your hunger wakes up.
so if you want to juice fast... no nut mylk. especially if you want to give your digestion a rest.

Hey guys,
I'm considering doing my first fast. Since I'm working and in school I guess I should do a juice fast. I have a couple of questions that have probably been asked and answered a million times before, but please humour me!:wuv
- I noticed above people are talking about bm's, and I'm wondering if constipation is something I should expect? Because I am SO not a fan of constipation!
- Also, is there a limit on how much juice I can drink each day? Any kind of home made juice is fine?
- Aaaaand... how long would you guys recommend for a first fast? One day, three days?...
THanks!

1) no - most people have regular bms during their fasts. i use no assistance at all and had bms throughout my 209 day fast. other people like to use enemas, colonics etc. but it's not nec. unless you choose to do it.
2) no there is no limit
3) up to you. there's been people who do a 92 juice-feast as their first fast. others do one day. i did 9 days. everyone is different.
and welcome!!!

Thanks Aleesha! I'm very excited to be here!!!! I do have one last question:
I do a 5 k run every second day, and I'm probably going to be joining Curves tomorrow. It's not dangerous to exercise on a juice fast, right?
Ok, my elf name is going to be Aeris! :meditating::meditating:

Aeris - Welcome - Yes you can. Just drink more green juices on that day and increase your juice so you aren't hungry at all. - At least that's my suggestion... it's your fast you can do whatever you desire!!! There are NO rules! :)

Good morning happy fasters!
I am off my 21 day fast for over a week now and guess what. I did not gain an ounce back. Yes that's right, not one ounce. I think it's unusual and I didn't expect it but I guess that's my little gift after releasing the weight so slow during the fast. I have been very careful eating. Still I juice during most of the day and eat, mostly veggies at night.
I did another day of juice fasting after the weekend because I like it so much and I miss it. I will for sure join all of you again on another fast in May or maybe June.
Hope you all enjoy your fast!

I have been running and exercising all through my last fast. I don't think it is dangerous at all. It does make it harder sometimes because you are more hungry. So I would definitely take it slow and listen carefully to your body. Walks are ok too!

everyone makes a choice while fasting - and that is - what is your goal? why are you doing this? is it for healing? is it for detox? is it for weight release? is it to simply gift your body a little break from digestion?
once you figure that out then you can choose what you want to add to your fast.
if you are here for healing... then reduce your exercise. allow your body to use all the energy it has in a day for healing rather than burning it with exercise.
if you are here for weight release... increase your water and exercise and remember to keep your juice levels high as well.
if you are here for cleansing... more water and less juice is a good way to achieve this. considering enemas, colonics, SWFs, or bowel moving teas are something you may want to add.

Hello juicy friends :juicy:
I am on day 6 of my juice fast; my first ever!! I initially started out with a 3 day commitment. Once I reached that goal, I committed to a week. I fully expect to make it a week, so my next goal will be two weeks.Ultimately I would like to do a long fast with goal of healing, and I suspect it it could take considerable amount of time to do so. I am trying to educate myself before I take the leap of a 90 day juice feast.
I am still feeling hungry, but I really think it is more physiological at this point. I am having some very unsettling feelings which I think are most likely due to physical & emotional detox.
I have to say, it is challenging, but my motivation is high and is what is keeping on tract at this point. I have taken the next two days off work to give myself a four day weekend where I can juice myself into a frenzy. I intend to get in practice of making the amount of juice I would need for the a 90 day juice feast, per what I have read on the juice feast web site.
Looking forward to going back to beginning of thread to read all the post.:goodday::

that is a lot of juice on those feasts. enjoy!
i'm on day five today... at this point i'm feeling exactly how i did when i started my 209 day fast... so perhaps i'll exceed that - at this point i'm taking it day by day but i'm looking forward to spending the rest of the year juicing. it feels like the right thing to do.

I read somewhere, this thread I think, that someone had gone hiking while juice fasting.
I myself am a hiker and for some reason I thought to myself the two would not mix. So I passed up on hike this past weekend, which was the second day of my fast.
I am a member of hiking meet up group and am suppose to go on a 7 mile hike on 4/16. I had thought that if I was still on the fast, that perhaps I should skip it.
It seems quite the dilemma to figure out how to keep a good enough amount of juice cold in my backpack, along with water on a 7 mile hike with some steep elevation. Not to mention no solid food  as hiking kicks up quite an appetite.
How bout anyone else? Have you managed a hike while juice fasting?
I have been dying for the weather to good enough to get out hiking, but not sure about it now.
Thanks for your tips, insight, and suggestions.

Wow Aleesha!! 209 days??!! No slip ups with food? That is amazing.
Yeah, it is a lot of juice (roughly a gallon I think) but from what I have read that is what a person needs to ensure you are getting enough nutrition on a long fast like that. It sounds like you didn't though.
I believe you said you drank about a couple liters a day? Is that pretty much your standard?
Thanks!

you don't need to follow their protocol at all... it's a choice. i had my bloodwork done every four weeks and it was stellar!
i did have a few road bumps on my fast. got really sick and had some issues cause i couldn't make juice. most of my issues were close to the end though.
i drink about 4 litres a day on average i think.
it's cathy (lady aredhel) who goes hiking! i'm a walker... not a hiker

Hi pippin.... I love to hike and I have hiked while only having juices a few times. Its really nice actually...
Last week I hiked about 7-8 miles. We had little ones and it had some ruff parts, so it took us about 4 hours to complete. I was a little tired by the end by not too bad.. My favorite juice to take is pineapple/cucumber/apple with coconut water. If I put it in my insolated water bottle, it keeps quite well. I also have a regular water bottle for my water. Also, I like to keep some juice in the car for when we are done and I can have that right away!!

I hear you. The last times I've fasted... I wanted to find my zone but it just wasn't there. You know, Lady Aredhel, we can't force these things, they have to manifest on their own for us... But this time, this time was different. Not sure why, but it just was. So... since these five days have been complete ease, I'm going to just keep going and see where the summer, fall and winter bring me. I am hoping that I'll still be fasting as Yule approaches and the sun is reborn - making the days longer once again. Funny saying that when - at this time - the days are getting longer. *giggling*

Ive been super busy this month and have just had a chance to catch up on the posts. I love reading abour your blends Aleesha, so yummy. I have been skipping breafast and lunch but need to do a 5 day juice fast. I bought 5 lbs of grapes today. That should get me started.
Aleesha Sattva
04-07-2011, 09:43 AM
Mystic Warrior I cannot do grape juice LOL I've tried... but it's just too sweet for me. Perhaps if I added in some cucumber and greens?
I have released 7 pounds on this fast. Today is Day Six. I'm pleased. I was up a little more than I am comfy weighting and now I am back into the realm of where I like my body to be.
I have a tattoo appointment today (yes I still have space for more)... and so I'll be making some juices to take with me. I'm thinking that even though I'm not craving the pineapples I have in my fridge, I'll juice them up and take them with me. Straight up. No apples, no parsley, no nothing... just the sweetness of pineapple. mmm I'm salivating thinking about it.
It seems that for me right now... apples are what this body wants and is craving. Greens and apples. So I'm doing lots of kale, parsley and of course... apples. I have granny smith and organic galas in my fridge... about 25 pounds in total.
I also have 15 pounds of toms so I better get into the dinner juice mode again. I didn't have any yesterday but I need to - if for nothing else - to get them consumed. I don't want to waste them especially when they are so expensive right now.
I won't be buying anymore young coconuts for awhile. Too expensive here right now. In a month or so they'll come down in price. The wait will be worth it as I do so love their nectar.
Happy fasting all!!!
Look my very first post!! I have been lurking for a while. I wasn't going to start my fast until next Tuesday because I am working on a huge research paper but my body had other ideas. Yesterday I had pineapple juice for breakfast and then aleesha's tomatoey juice of goodness for dinner last night. I think I put to much cayenne it it though and I think I liked it that way :cheer: Today I made me and my son pineapple juice for breakfast and I was going eat a non juicy lunch but my body was just all like no no no give me the juice so I made up some strawberries with 2 kiwis an orange and a banana. Best idea eva! I think laters will include carrots (cause I have a bagazillion of them) and some green things. So happy listening to my aquarium and my birdy baby and my children playing and sippin on my :juicy:
pleasure to meet everyone. :heart hope to "see" much more of you peoples

banana and avocado cannot be juiced. it really just mushes. so if you don't want to waste them... make a syrup instead and add that to your juice. i'll go unarchive the thread for you if i can, otherwise i'll post the 'recipe' here.
can you add too much cayenne? *giggling* i've dumped a huge amount in before and had to spoon it out LOL it was one hot juice but i loved it. i love the heat!
i made about 3 litres... maybe 4 of pineapple juice just now. i'm off to get my tat and i'm blissing out!!!

mmmm banana syrup! what an excellent idea. I think I made that by accident once  I just made a juice with 6 carrots, some kale and some celery. It is unpleasant. I knew I should have just made carrot juice but I wanted to try and add some greens. That is what I get for not looking up a recipe I suppose. I just can't drink it. Live and learn, drink and love :kisses:

You'll get the hang of how much of things to add. When adding greens start small and work your way up. And... if you have a bad juice, try adding ginger and apple. Often it turns it into something yummy.
Just got home from my tattoo. It's sooooooo gorgeous. Way nicer than I even imagined it would be.
Sipping on tom soon...

Yeah, I learned my lesson. I knew there was going to be a lot eating but I was feeling pretty invincible this morning and thought it wouldn't affect me. WRONG!!
I cant say I've had good luck with juicing tomatoes. It seems they more or less turn to a thick sorta pulp like consistency. Mangos do as well.

I'm joining in with a fast! I don't know how long I will go; just taking it one day at a time. This is the first time I've ever fasted, and just started this morning. I had a lovely green juice for breakfast, and juiced some oranges for lunch. So far, so good! Will be heading out to Whole Foods in a bit to get some more veggies and fruits to juice.
I really feel like if I can fast for 24 hours, it will be something, lol! I've been lurking here since yesterday, and Hubby was working on my computer, so this is the first time I've been able to get online. I'll check back in later.

Welcome Lesla!
Today went well for me. Made some apple/kale/parsley/ginger/lemon juice to take with me to the homeschooling co-op. Didn't drink much cause it made my tummy upset. I think it was because I was just so cold and my tat was really sore. The combo wasn't good. My muscles were all super-tight and uncomfy in my abs. When they happens and I drink juice, I always get a belly ache. I totally forgot about it until I had my juice though.

Welcome Lesla. This too is my first juice fast. I did a water fast about umpteen years ago (1979) that lasted 3 days. I would attempt to fast off & on through out the years, but was not successful. This was before I knew about juice fasting.
Like you I am taking in phases. Three days, then seven, and now my goal is two weeks. Ultimately, this time, I really would like to make it at least thirty days. I am now on my eighth day.
Wish you luck on your fasting journey.

Ok, how can I get the stains off my green star? This juicer has had more of a workout in the past 8 days than all the almost 3 years I have owned it. Never minded stains so much before but it is looking just down right yucky!
Also, I just started juicing parsley and all was fine yesterday, but today each time I juiced a lot of leaves made their way into the juice.
I feel like I am killing my juicer as much as I have been using it. Hope it don't break down on me.

And having them get stained is like a medal of honour! That's how I look at it. I take pride in the fact that mine doesn't look at perfectly clean and new. People know this machine is loved!
*wraps my arms around my juicers and hug them*
I have something to admit. Lady Aredhel you may want to sit down.
I'm not craving tom juice. :thud: *picks up Lady Aredhel* I knoooooooow. How can this be? I'm not craving it. All I want is apples and greens. I had apple for dinner.
I'll still use them up, cause I have them. But I may not be buying them again for a bit.

Well, I made it thru Day 1! It wasn't bad at all! Last night, when Hubs decided to feed the rest of the family, I retired to the bedroom and watched movies on my computer. That was a nice distraction.
I decided to fast another day. My body seems to be liking it so far, so I'll listen to what it says. I think a pineapple, cucumber, apple, pear juice this morning to wake me up. I'll probably throw in a handful of lettuce. I'm out of greens, but we are going to the Farmer's Market this morning! I'm so excited! Haven't been to one in years. I'll share my booty when I get back! Wish I could literally share it!

I too am grateful for this thread. You really are alone in the world, or like an alien, when you fast. (at least it feels that way)
I had an eating dream last night. But it was something I never eat, that's not healthy, I don't even like, and I wasn't enjoying it. How strange is that??? Any dream interpreters here?
Been reading the chapter about how to break a fast in my Juice Fasting book by Steve Meyerowitz. Have to say, it almost sparked a bit of anxiety in me, because he say's if you don't do it right you could have some major problems, anything from severe intestinal distress, to death!!! :eek:WOW!! That's heavy. I am never gonna want to go off this fast
I have to confess, I do have a history of fear & anxiety, but I have come along way compared to how I was. So far I have been able to shake of any fear or anxiety that has tried to come over me because of my decision to fast.
Hope you all have a juicy day!:juicy:

i believe that when we dream about food... and it's not healthy our body is letting us know it's detoxing that food. same thing when you get the taste in your mouth out of nowhere...
when it's something healthy... sometimes i means your body needs you to juice it. it's craving it.
not always... but a guideline i tend to follow.
i have broken many fasts very badly... and i'm still standing. but... i have broken many more fasts very well and i can tell you my body feels a whole better than i break it gently. a whole lot better.

:whisperOk....I gotta ask.....do you all do enemas?
On most everything I read I see that enemas and colonics are advised during a juice fast. They say in order to get the full benefits from the fast you need to do this.
I am definitely not a good candidate for a colonic, so that is not an option for me. An while I would prefer not to have to do an enema, I would be willing too.
Thanks!
P.S. I am still freezing to death!!! :cold: COME ON SUMMER!!

i'm home from a gorgeous walk. cuddled on the couch waiting for the sauna to warm up... then i'm going inside for a bit. ahhhh warmth!
pippin07
04-10-2011, 12:30 AM
Awe!! Sauna, how nice!! To get warm I took a really hot shower and then I went for a 45 minute walk. Once I got home I had to take a nap; very unusual for me. That was the first exercise in I cant remember.
Last night I made 3 16 oz jars of juice, and could only finish one. Tonight I made 3 16 oz jars and managed to drink two of them. I just hope I am getting enough. I think I am managing about 1/2 gallon per day. It is just really hard for me to drink all that juice when im so darn cold.
I keep watching the weather and is suppose to finally reach the 70's by week after next.

Remember you can have tea, warm water... warm your juices slightly. A heating pad helps a lot. I use mine daily.

Drink as much as you desire and no more. If your body needs more it'll ask for it. Trust that.

Good Sunday Morning All!
Today is day 2 of a short juice fast which I'll turn into a smoothie feast. I've been fighting my digestive system wanting and needing a break for a while now culminating in some bad choices Friday......so I finally decided to listen! :)
Yesterday was a very moody day for me and today has started off similar. I acknowledge these feelings and this release and am excited to move on. I tend to feel so much more present when fasting and maybe that's because I am really listening and in tune.
Apple/pear/ginger (my fav) and tomato/beet/pepper are made for the day. Love to all and HAPPY FASTING! :heart
Aleesha Sattva
04-10-2011, 10:10 AM
I think, if you don't mind me adding in my two cents worth Maethoriel, that the reason you are more present is because your body isn't using it's energy for digestion and all the processes that go into that. Instead your body has an abundance of energy at it's disposal and so, rather than being cluttered with focusing on getting the nutrients and moving waste out of your body... it allows the path to be more clear for your mind, body and spirit to be connected.
At least that's my take on the experience.
It's always nice to fast with you! (((hugs)))
I am pleased to share that I've released 10 pounds... today is day nine of my fast. I am so in the zone that I smile all the time. I loooooove it when I'm here. Funny thing is... it's not something I can create for myself. It's something that either is or it isn't. Period. But I have learned that by continuing to do short fasts... eventually I hit on the one. The one that takes me there. Ahhhhhhh this is bliss.
I have a raw food client later today... going to do some water exchanges on our fish tanks and make myself some juice. Other than that... I'm hoping to take it easy today. Yesterday was a very BIG day emotionally and I want to gift myself a gentle, loving space to fully recover.
Oh and a sauna... I'll definitely be having a sauna today!

I didn't even think about using my heating pad. I keep forgetting about having tea, although I have plenty. I had bought some licorice tea to take on my camping trips because I had heard is especially warming.
I'm having warm lemon water now. Thinking I will juice grapefruit this morning. And then finish off my left over green juice from last night.
I'm still in the process of learning to listen to my body rather than my mind.
Hope you all :goodday: :hug

20 granny smith apples
2 bunches of organic kale
2 sticks of celery

Holy crap batman we are not in kansas anymore! I had to water it down almost 50%... and add cinnamon and it's still a bit hard to drink. LOL

I just made a juice concoction which I cant say I am crazy about, but will drink it any way.
3 mangos
1 head of romaine
1/2 head each of, dandelion greens, kale, celery
1 lemon
It made a little over a quart
The past couple days I have found I am liking my green juices when they don't taste too sweet.
Today I walked for an hour. I am warmer, and have a bit more physical/mental energy. Been off work for 4 days, so tomorrow.....party is over........ and back to the grind stone.
p.s. Aleesha, how many juicers do you have?? And which kinds?
Aleesha Sattva
04-10-2011, 06:33 PM
i have two juicers. champion and a greenstar.
i made tom juice for dinner. and had to force it down. i just can't drink toms. i'm sooooo surprised. oh well... what to do with all these toms that cost me so much money? makes me sad...
i think i'll juice them tomorrow and freeze the juice and see if perhaps i get interested in toms again the next few weeks.
pippin07
04-10-2011, 07:15 PM
Wont the toms keep for awhile? The ones I buy at Costco last unrefrigerated what seems like forever. Makes me wonder if they are radiated or something to preserve them.
My juice concoction did hit well on my tummy.
***WARNING**** TMI ALERT****
I had only drank 16 oz and before I finished it had to go bm. I was so surprised I had that much solids still after 10 days. And boy did it burn .My bum burned for about 10 min afterward!!! What is up with that???
Aleesha Sattva
04-10-2011, 08:20 PM
Perhaps spices coming out?
And anything to do with poop is NEVER tmi here. We love talking about it!!! it's important stuff.
I just finished up with my new client... she's doing a gorgeous 52 day fast. I'm soooo excited to fast with her.

Well if it was spices, it would have been from over 10 days ago. I've not had any in my juices. Maybe it's the ginger.
Hey fasting expert; do you think it is necessary to have a ton of greens every day? Tomorrow it is back to work and I was thinking about forgoing my morning green juicing (so I don't have to get up so early)and just taking a bunch of grapefruit & oranges to juice throughout the day at work. I have one of those little manual citrus juicing thingies.
Thanks a bunch of kale!! :hug

It's not nec at all. I've gone without greens for extended periods of time and done great with my health.
So... do what works.
I am doing greens now cause I'm craving them!

04-10-2011, 10:33 PM
Ya, I was talking to you ;-)
That is good to know. Every morning before work I have been making my juice (mostly green). So I can feel more at ease knowing high greens everyday is not necessary; for the times when I need a little extra zees in the morn.
On the four days I was off, for greens, I was having a minimal of 2 heads of romaine, 2 heads of celery, 2 heads of parsley. In addition throwing some dandelion, kale & cucumbers. That is just the green part of my juice :-)
Day 10 down!!! :woohoo:

Helloooo to the Fellowship of Fasters! I seriously slacked on checking into this forum during my fast... very unlike me. I was fasting with you for 6 days, but I think I only posted on one or two of them. Anyway, I loved my fast... I feel great (but wish I could have gone longer) and released 5 pounds. I chose to break my fast because my in-laws are visiting on wednesday for a week and I just don't like fasting when family or friends visit. When they leave on April 20th I will begin a new one, and my husband said that he'll join me! He must be anticipating a lot of eating out while his parents are in town, lol. Anyway, I'll be back around the 20th and hopefully some of you will still be here! I will also plan to check in more often during that fast, as I do need the Fellowship for support :)
Keep up with the juicing, the healing, the detoxing, and the supporting!

There is no wagon, there is no 'should have', there is no 'failure', there is no 'not enough'. All there is is this moment and the gift you are giving your body. Simply breathe into it and allow. If you fast for an hour... then that's what you gifted, if you fast for a day, a week, a month, a year... it's all the same. You are simply fasting in THIS moment... no other moment but this.
I welcome you both - I will be here. I plan to fast for the rest of the year so I will be here... holding the space and offering support... and gaining so much support back. That's what I love about our fasting fellowship... we are all here, even when we are not fasting... I feel you with me.

About 20 min after arriving to work I am sitting here at my desk and my heart is ponding like crazy.
I remember having heart palpitations on about the 3rd or 4th day of my fast and read where that could happen while fasting. But it is now day 11. I am trying not to get panic. But man! This is very unsettleing.
I started thinking maybe I sould break my fast so I cut up an orange and started sucking on it then ate some of the pulp. I really, really, really, dont want to break it.
I started thinking maybe my elcotrolites are out of balance so walked home (which is right next door) and opened up a coconut and am now drinking the water. Will wait an see now.

stress causes your heart to beat more. what you could do is sit down and close your eyes and just r-e-l-a-x
let it go.
your heart is most likely just fine.
relax.
if in doubt though... go see your doctor.
but chances are good that you are just fine... you just need to allow your body to go through what it's processing and relax...
breathe in... feel the air passing through your nostrils
breathe out... feel the warm air leaving
breathe in... feel the air passing through your nostrils
breathe out... relax further
repeat
pippin07
04-11-2011, 11:32 AM
Thanks Aleesha. Starting to feel better now. I just hate that I get so panic stricken.
In spite of the little orange pulp I ate Im going to continue on in hopes it didn't set me back too much.
Still very aware of my heart beat, but getting better.
Did you experience anything like that while fasting?
Aleesha Sattva
04-11-2011, 11:36 AM
yup. just took a moment to relax... sometimes i'd just rest for a bit.
i wasn't concerned about it at all. but that's just my take on things. i'm not judging your reaction at all. (((hugs))) but stress does increase any issues with the heart so being mindful, going into meditation... breathing... these things all help tremendously.

Ok...when does the tummy hunger go away? I have heard it does. I also read that at the peak of the fast food will smell repulsive.
All afternoon I could smell the food from the four food establishments around my office building. I never eat at these places nor ever have a desire too, but the smells are making me crazy cause it smells so good!!
In my 'mini paranoid melt down' I had today I almost broke my fast. In fact I sucked on an orange & had some of the pulp. I don't know if that triggered the hunger in me but my tummy has been having fits today yelling EAT, EAT, EAT!!! My brain is say NO, NO, NO!!!
I don't know what part of me is doing all the talking....my body, or my mind. I have not yet fully learned to listen to my body...so I just don't know at this point.
They said true hunger is not in the tummy, but in the mouth and throat. I cant' say that I have ever experienced hunger any other way than in the tummy.
Just rambling...gonna go make juice now.
Aleesha Sattva
04-11-2011, 06:14 PM
i haven't found true hunger to live in the throat, the tummy or the mouth. it's more a place you enter deep into a fast. i don't believe it returns early on. but that's just me. i've fasted a LOT and only experienced true hunger twice. once at the end of my 84 day fast and again at the end of my 209 day fast.
you restarted your digestion by ingesting the pulp. give yourself a day and it'll quiet again.
or break you fast.
it's your body, your life and your choice.
but if you want to continue, then keep your mind occupied on other things and don't let it bug you into eating.
have a bath
go for a walk
sit in a park
meditate
read a book
rebound
go exercise
go for a drive
talk with a friend
watch tv
... whatever it takes to shift your thoughts.
and as for the fast food thing... not sure where you heard that one...

What I should have said was, I read in my juice fasting book by Steve Meyerowitz that when you are the peak of your fast, food will start to smell repulsive.
Cause I been waiting for that day to come..lol. So far everything smells 100 times better.
I am thoroughly enjoying my simple green juice tonight. It has a head of romaine, almost a whole head of swiss chard, head of celery, and juice of one lemon.:juicy: This one is a keeper.

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the smell of food repulsive. There are certain food smells that bring back a good memory, but most of those smells are spices or herbs... cinnamon, vanilla, etc. I am living in an apartment now where I can smell my neighbors cooking and it's so gross! I also work in restaurants. Blech! Even when I worked in Alissa's raw food restaurant I didn't like the smell of the food! Thought it was just me.

I'm kind of curious, how much weight is usually released on these water fasts?
I'm 5'10'' but have always been thin. Not down for like, blacking out or something lol.
Aleesha Sattva
04-12-2011, 06:48 PM
You won't black out from releasing weight. But when water fasting.. get up slowly. Remember your blood pressure is lower than when juice fasting... so take it easy.
It is highly recommended (and I agree) that you spend as much time on the couch, laying on a blanket outside or in bed when water fasting. Rest, rest and more rest. Remember that. I get to a point where lifting my hand to my face is too much effort. My water consumption drops due to the lack of energy to drink.
I think (not sure) about 2 pounds a day at first and then 1 pound a day on a water fast.

Picked up the most beautiful organic greens today.
2 bunches of kale
2 bunches of parsley
10 pounds of apples (couldn't get organic (sad))
3 gorgeous mangos - gonna make a little watered down treat for myself. (I seldom drink mango on a fast - too thick)
3 enormous long english cucumbers
I'm in heaven. Sipping on an interesting blend of:
fennel
apple
beet
kale
lemon
apple - mix of organic galas and granny smith
ginger

Hey guys, so I am starting a 20 day water fast, and I'm really hoping I can do this. I need it so bad though. I am 22 years old, 5'4 and 233 lbs!
I did a three day water fast about 20 days ago, which my starting weight for that was 336 and I got down to 223, but then I ended up eating crap all over again.
Anyhow, I read in several different places that you can expect to drop 3-4 lbs a day for the first couple of days water fasting but then it will slow down to 1-2 lbs a day. I have a goal of losing 33lbs by May 4th. My husband and I are going to Las Vegas for our One Year Wedding Annaversery :heart and I want to look good for it. I'm really hoping that a 20 day water fast can help me achieve these goals!
Sorry to bore ya'll, but I'm really hoping to join this forum for the support!

This morning I made a V-8 juice.
swiss chard
parsley
cucumber
celery
carrot
red pepper
beat
tomato
And some ginger for kick. It taste pretty good if I must say so myself.
Was running short on time this morning so I used my breville instead of the green star. It made one quart of juice.

Tell me that's a typo! LOL Cause over 100 pounds in a few days... ummm... yeah.
I wish you all the best on your fast. Have you read the stickie in this section? It has heaps of info on water fasting... a really good amount of info. All stuff I collected while doing a water fast.
Pip, I hear ya. My champion juicer is my quickie juicer.
I'm awake and feeling good. Today will be very low key for me. I'm looking forward to a day on the couch with very little obligations other than taking my daughter to get her hair cut.

Count me in for the day at least. I am going to smoothie/juice fast.
I was real weak this morning and my back is giving me fits. Feels like I've run out of gas then got ran over by my own vehicle while trying to push it to the station. Liquids will be the fuel for the day since it may have been due to overexertion in the heat.
I was out cleaning gutters, doing yard work, turning the compost pile, and walking and working among the Ent yesterday when I picked up a hitchhiker. A lone star tick. It is probably too soon for my weakness to be caused by the tiny varmint, but I am starting the fast in hopes of helping fend off anything it might have introduced to my bloodstream. Then too, fasting helps me sort out symptoms from food sensitivities against symtpoms from other stuff.
So, Strider is here hoping to get back on stride.

I meant I was 236 lbs, not 333! Sorrry. And I have not read the Stickie, but am about to go read it... Any information helps! :-)
I'm kinda worried about the 3rd day hump. I can never seem to get passed the third day of fasting, which is why my last fast was only 3 days long, (I wanted to do a 10-20 day fast.) How do you guys get passed the "I'm reallllly hungry and I need to eat NOW" stage?

A big glass of water usually helps me, then something to distract. If you kep telling yourself that feeling better is just a glass of water away, I think it will help that much more. That's just my experience though. I really like Aleesha's view that she'll wait for morning to decide to quit or not. Often it's that commitment going in that pulls you through.
Aleesha Sattva
04-13-2011, 03:36 PM
Yup Strider is right (isn't he just the sexiest part of LOTRs) :kisses: You get through it by getting through it. There's no magic potion... you just have to tell yourself that you are NOT quitting today. No matter what. And then... don't.
Really... it's that simple and that hard all in the same breath. I know... I've been there... it's hard. But if it's something you really want... you have to just stop your mind from going there and focus on other things.
It's how I did 209 days. Cause if I just let myself quit every time I wanted to... I'd never fast for long at all. Heck... I wouldn't be fasting right now!
But I am... cause I'm committed to my fast. I'm committed to my healing. I'm committed to my growth.
Strider, I think fasting is a great idea for you right now. Really a good idea. Give your body all the energy it needs to deal with that nasty tick! (((hugs)))
I'm having a totally lovely day. Totally lovely.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love my life?

The commitment. I mean, there's a reason I got to high in my weight. My life is hectic! I work 10-15 hours a day, plus trying to be a good wife by cleaning, cooking etc. But it's time to stop making excuses! Right?

i had a great day. didn't have much of anything today. i finally made some juice later in the day and had a bit... but man... my body does NOT want tom or veggie juice. i try... and it say, "no thanks... where's my apple?"
so i saved the rest of the veggie for tomorrow but i'll be making some apple/mango in the morning and then apple/parsley/ginger for the rest of the day! mmmm yummy

very sweet!!!
did you hand juice your mangos?
I blended one in the osterizer, and then hand strained through the bag. It did not seperate juice from pulp but became one homogenous goo, with nothing left behind in the bag. I spooned it down rather than drink it and called it good. Well, great really. It was perfectly ripe, and finger lickin good. I think it made me dance a little even. (I've got a feelin' our feline would love hanging around your kitchen-she's quite the licker) So the mango was not as light as juice but not as heavy as the smoothie I started on yesterday. I'm vittling my way down to lighter fare.
I have very burny eyes tonight so I put coconut oil in them. It helped soothe but I couldn't read until I rinsed it out. After doing it my vision seem a bit improved. It was like my eyes were dry before and would not reshape to focus very well. Much better now. Could be spring pollen. No I just realized what it probably was. I used some "Tired Old Ass Soak" bath salts in my tub tonight (from little moon essentials). The essential oils in it probably got into my eyes....eucalyptus and rosemary, and then I added some peppermint and another essential mix called brain batter (yum)....I look like I'm high by my eyes but I smell good.

Greetings fellowship of fasters! Happy TGFday! Soooo glad the weekend is here.:excited:
I didn't end up drinking that juice that I didn't drink last night. 3- 16 oz jars!! Just couldn't do it. I think it was the garlic. Wont do that again.
This morning I had the water from a huge coconut. It was so yummy! I put some spirulina in it. I tried to have the left over juice at work and it just wasn't happening. So I just drank a lot of water instead.
Now home and having a grapefruit/orange combo. I added some barely grass juice powder to a small amount of it and and am drinking the rest straight up. I have a full yummy quart. :juicy:
I am still beating down the occasionally thoughts of eating that keep popping up in my head. Not from appetite or even hunger....I don't get it. Definitely has to be psychological. I have had food issues most my life.
I don't know what is up with my spirulina, but man is it hard to dissolve!! It like cakes up & sticks to the spoon and the sides of the jar. I used to use it along time ago and don't remember mixing being an issue. Maybe the brand?? The one I used in the past was from Health Force.

I had to squash those feelings for my entire 209 day fast. It's just natural. Heck... you've eaten 365 days... probably at least 3 times a day... for your entire life! That's a lot of eating. So don't worry when those thoughts come. Just a gentle reminder that you aren't eating right now works lovely... (most times and for other times... get your mind thinking of something else).

Good Morning Sunshine Crew of the LOTR Fellowship of Fasters.
How are you all hanging in? I'd have to go back to see what day it is for me. Three or four I believe. This fast was a little harder I think. It's been longer than usual since my last. Had a little more discomfort than usual but not too terribly bad. Looking forward to finishing of the weekend at least if all goes well.
Aleesha if you come, wax your board and bring a suit.....were about six miles from the beach. You'll have to check the wave reports.....haha, nah I'm not a surfer but I can dream. Maybe that'll be something I pick up in my old age. Got a few years to go yet.
For pippin I had an idea I sometimes use with supplement powders for my gut.....Place in a small jar (1/2 pt.) with some water. Shake like the dickens and then add to your recipe. I think this may be the nature of the product. If I remember correctly it grows on top of water so maybe it has the genetics to float.
Hi to GoodCat too. Hope you and all the other fasters are on top of the world.
Toodles. I'm off to the organic produce store I just visited for the first time yesterday to get some more juicables, then to the hydro store for some hydroton and soil. I am wanting to expand my little patio garden for more kale and greens.:hippy Have a juicy day! And remember......

You can function during a juice fast, you don't need bed rest. It's water fasting that you need to rest for.
I publish a magazine, work with raw/fasting clients, homeschool my kids, take care of a lot of critters (we have a zoo), manage my home, go for long walks... and totally function all the time... all while juice fasting for extended periods of time.
And yes... even just one day is a gift!!!

I found another local source for raw unfiltered honey yesterday.....happy happy happy.
It has an informative label. The bottle says over 5000 enzymes, 22 amino acids, and 27 minerals in the pollen in unfiltered raw honey.....I did not know that. Antioxidants near the level of that of spinach or strawberries, and includes one called pinocembrin associated with improved brain function.....
I had to go shopping and got weak and woozy in the store. I think I overdid it yesterday with home repairs and lawn work. I felt better than I had in a long time and tried to catch up...pushed too hard.
today-rest.
peace out

Bought some organic strawberries today and think I will make a nice strawberry cucumber juice. Don't that sound good?
Ooh....I also bought a watermelon today and am hoping I picked a good one. I picked up some young coconuts for morning juice this next week. Wanting to spend a little less time &work juicing before work for the next few days. I will add some spirulina to it.
I had heard that Kombucha is not good on a fast, and was going to ask why, but now I think I know. I opened a bottle I had in the fridge as the expiration date was coming up, and as expensive as it is did not want to waste. it. Now I have a good ol case of heartburn.

It came out more like a thin smoothie!! Very little pulp output. It is the same when I juiced mangos with my green star. So what's up??? Is this really juice....or more of a nectar.???

I don't do strawberries... (I'm allergic) but when i did (before I knew about my allergy) I never added more than two berries to a litre of juice.

Aleesha, do you juice your watermelon in your green star?
I was wondering if it may work to put in my vita mix and then strain it.

i can use either one... champion or greenstar but i'll be using my greenstar. it works great because of the rind. the flesh alone wouldn't juice well in the greenstar but with the rind, it does just fine.
yes your vita-mix will work.
