What are your thoughts on eating large quantities of flaxseeds? I'm mostly thinking of that pancake recipe that was floating around here recently -- each pancake has about a half cup of ground flaxseeds.

I didn't notice any physical problem after eating that many flaxseeds, except that I might have become a bit "blocked up." Not in a bad way, just that things did seem to sort of stop for a day. I made sure to drink lots of water the day I ate the flaxseeds in case that helps.

What do you think? I view these pancakes as a rare treat, not a regular thing, but I wonder what people think of eating so many flaxseeds!

Yep, I totally agree with what you said. I LOVE those pancakes and COULD eat them everyday IF I let myself, but I won't. They are for a treat on a maybe once a week occasion...if that.

I do eat raw flaxbread that I make on a almost daily basis, but one or two slices of that does not have anywhere near a cup of flax. But boy are those pancakes yummy!

But I will say that after I eat them I feel VERY FULL for quite awhile, almost painfully so and I always cut the recipe in half.

I've cut the pancake recipe down to where it is only 1/4 c. ground flax, and everything has been ok. And yes...yummy!

I also eat a few raw flax seed crackers I've made everyday. And it's the opposite, this is what helped get me regular.

I made a blueberry pancake recipe with flax meal and flax seeds and they were so delicious. I ate some of the batter before it got to the dehydrator.
I was more concerned about calories. So I only ate one. And I drink alot of water. Alot ! Next time, it isn't the flax I'll cut back on, but the agave (or honey). It was very rich.

changeisgood, Would love to try your blueberry pancake recipe if it is one that you can share. The cinnamon one was kind of heavy but flavorwise very good.
