I remember I was able to sprout barley in my past raw life a few years ago, but seem to be having problems this time around. When I went to make Alissa's Chili recipe, which I remember was oh-so yummy and satisfying, I saw that in her sprouting chart it says "hulled" barley. So I got some organic hulled barley from Whole Foods, and soaked it for maybe 6 hours, then tried to sprout it, but it sat there for several days with nothing happening. (I've also recently sprouted buckwheat, so I know it's the barley, not my technique.) So then I searched the web, which said only unhulled barley will sprout, so I got some of that sitting in a bowl right now.
My main concern about the unhulled barley is, if it does in fact sprout, it seems rather heavy duty with the hull on, do we eat it like that? Or did I get the wrong thing?
