Hi Everyone,

I just received a couple of fresh cacao pods. I would like to make raw cacao nibs but I have no idea what to do. Do you just eat the fruit that is attached to the nibs and then crunch on the nibs or do you have to prepare them some how?

Thanks for the help!

Interested to find out. My HFS has the nibs and I grind them in a coffee grinder to make into a powder to use in things like raw fudge balls or raw energy balls. I also use them just broken up (not ground into powder, in other words) in trail mix.

First you need to take the beans out of the pod and soak them in cold water. Then you peel the beans, and process them in a food processor to make them nibby and delicious.

Except I have never gotten cacao pods...only cacao beans. I'm not sure what the beans are like when you take them right out of the pod
