Hi Everyone
If we're eating a 100% raw diet, can you tell me if we should be or need to be spending money on:
1. Enzymes (I know yes, if we're eating cooked foods, but if I have no trouble digesting the live food Im eating, is there another benefit?)
2. E3 Live
3. Wheatgrass
These really add up. I could buy organic food instead with the extra cash....

If you can affort it, all three are great. You seem to be from Canada, you can find a good support from simplyraw.ca She is very knowledgeable in this area and i did her detox twice.
3elive is wonderful, you may want to consider also spirulinaj
I normally don't take enzyme but it is recommended still. The produce that we buy sometime with all the time that it takes to get on our shelfve, it has been 10 days, the food start to loose its freshness and vitality. If we could pick our food directly from the trees or garden, we wouldn't need to supplement but yes, it is a good practice. I get the therapeudic enzyme because it helped me to heal in a deeper level with my digestive system.
Wheatgrass, yes, yes and yes. You may want to just buy a shot at a booster juice bar (they sell that).

E 3 Live mixed with citrus juice helps me a lot at my physically strenuous job. Why don't you try it once and decide for yourself if it's something you want to include in your diet.
1. No, unless you are sure you have some problems with the enzyme production in your body. And even if you have these supplements won't really help much.
2. No clue about this
3. I wouldn't, unless you grow it yourself

I don't necessary feel different either but i know it nourishes me. I remember when i was nursing and i got sick, i couldn't eat but i would manage to take e3live, and i was able still to produce milk. So this food has to be very rich in nutrient. It is a nice supplement
You can take a brake from it. I tend to take that more for the winter due that there aren't as much fresh produce then the summer in the market.
I use that for my child's smoothie.

i have e3live and think it's a total waste of money. haven't noticed even a tiny bit of difference.
why my protein levels dropped when i did my water fasting during my 209 day fast... it didn't bring them back up at all!!!
i think it's a pile of hype in a bottle myself.

Were you taking e3live afterward or during your fast. How do you measure your protein level? Did you get a blood test done?
I wouldn't blame the protein level on the e3live just yet, many factors could have been in considerations due to the water fast you had.

i started taking it during my fast and have taken it since. cause i'm using up the bottles i have.
my doctor monitored my blood during my fast.
my water fast was 9 or 10 days... the rest of the time (for the most part) was juice.
my protein levels were great during my fast except when i did my extended fast. i supplemented with e3live to increase my protein levels (on the advice and suggestion of the people at e3live) and it didn't make a difference.
they suggested i consume a bottle every three days... which is pretty rediculous IMO.
but... it's just my experience and my opinion... doesn't mean i'm right. ;)

Thank you. I appreciate this. Someone recommended a bottle a week at $400 a month........ I can get alot of organics for that, and even pay some of my mortgage :) I think that will be my last batch when its done.

Then perhaps it is not what your body needs, but it doesn't negate my experience with it. I work hard at a strenuous job. Do you? I feel a distinct increase in my stamina.

Well, then that's your answer. But if you ever experience fatigue, maybe it is worth experimenting with again.

of course it doesn't.
why in the world would one person's experience negate another persons? that makes no sense at all. i was simply sharing my thoughts and opinions from my experience.
doesn't mean you don't have your own.

Maybe you are right, maybe it is just hype! Smiles.............!!

So what does this spirulina provide that every day normal raw food doesn't?
As it seems it can provide you some bad neurotoxins http://www.all-creatures.org/health/treating.html
I wouldn't risk it.

remember you can always find something negative posted about EVERYthing... it's up to you to judge and discern.
i love it... love it ... love it.
As long as it's scientifically supported it's relevant, no matter whether it's positive or negative.
Anyway my point was, stick to what people were eating for thousands of years. Don't gamble by eating all this magical superfood stuff, it won't give you superpowers. You have no idea how it was processed, what does it really contain and what are it's long-term effects.

So what does this spirulina provide that every day normal raw food doesn't?
Well if it's not enzymatically active then it provides a bunch of dead proteins which raw foods usually don't have because raw foods are usually enzymatically active. Alot of algae supplements are "dead" algae, and again without enzymatic activity it may as well be a "cooked" food.
As with EVERY supplement, it's best to test. I always make sure to test any enzyme, algae or probiotic before committing to it's usage. Luckily there is an easy test for enzymes that can also be used for the algae. It's listed here ENZYME TESTING (http://rawfoodtalk.com/showpost.php?p=654536&postcount=4) It's the second one "2.". THe Jello test will show whether the algae is enzymatically active or not. Since Algae is something like 60% protein, it should have enough active protease to digest the geletin. (You can also use straight geletin instead of jello).
Another fun test is the gluten test. Sprout some wheat for 2-3 days. then take a handful of wheat sprouts and chew them up for roughly 3-5 mins. You should be left with a glob of gluten "gum" in your mouth. Now take another handful of sprouts and chew them with about 1 gram of the algae. This time, if the algae is enzymatically active, the gluten should dissolve and liquify.
Now this isn't to say that if the gluten doesn't dissolve that the algae doesn't contain enzymes, but simply that it's enzyme activity is low. A good brand with have such a high enzyme activity that it will have enough spare enzymes to digest the gluten/geletin.
Anyway, wish you all well
