Hi guys,
For those that have greenstars, I have bought the elite, and am just wondering if you can juice lemons/oranges with the peel?
The instructions say peel as much as possible but the recipes say peel included!

Used for the first time tonight... so impressed with how quiet it is! and the juice looks good for tomorrow - carrots - romaine lettuce - stevia. I can juice in my flat after 10pm and not sound like theres a small helicopter in the room.
It did take a while to clean up, but im sure ill get quicker with time :) and i didnt have to push the veggies through with as much strength as i thought :)
All in all a good way to spend an hour getting aquainted with my new juicer :) and its already christened the plastic inside orange (not that you can see it on the outside...
so...
nothing for it but to continue juicing :) hehe.

I have the Elite and I LOVE IT. Clean up takes me 10 minutes. A breeze.
I do need to learn the trick to juicing tomatoes tho.

Orange peel isn't good to ingest. Digestability issue. Other citrus peel seems to not be an issue. Personally, I used to peel just the orange rind off, leaving the white pithy part and cut and ran through the juicer. So reminiscent of Orange Julius.

Ah, so that is why my juice has been bitter! I've been blaming it on the greens, but the lemon peel makes much more sense -thanks for solving that mystery.
Also, I have the Green Star 3000 and I have problems with tomatoes and pinapples as well - they get very foamy and sudsy (which makes a real mess). Also, my juice is a bit pulpy. Is this normal?

you need to run other things through with soft fruits in the greenstar. like a piece of pineapple, then a piece of apple, then a piece of pineapple and two pieces of apple, then some parsley and more pineapple again.

I always peel oranges before juicing -- the peels are bitter and I understand have something in them that isn't good to eat. I sometimes peel lemons .. because the lemon can be really really strong with the peel left on -- but as I understand it, lemon peel won't really hurt you.
I make orange/grapefruit/pineapple juice in the greenstar almost daily. Untwist the pressure knob at the front about 1-1/2 turns, and it works beautifully -- go slow and easy. With experience, you'll find an 'order' to juice things. I do my grapefruit pieces first, then orange, then pineapple. Allow the pineapple to go through really slow, don't push it through hard. Pineapple does tend to foam up -- I've experienced that with other juicers as well, so I usually save it for last when I'm doing fruit juices. I have layered it with spinach some other green if I'm adding it to greens juices.
I've not had any trouble with tomatoes, veggies, or greens in the greenstar. Soft apples aren't the best tho - so I buy crisp apples whenever I can. I use the fine screen so have not experienced a pulp issue. That's one of the things I like about the greenstar, the juice is pulp free. You may get excess pulp if you have the pressure knob too tight for fruits, or push items through too fast.

I made the mistake on my first couple of juicings of leaving the rind on the fruits. I just figured it was all the same, boy was I wrong! Now I try to peel everything with a thicker skin on it and have not had that bitter taste anymore. I have also ventured out and started to add some silver (http://www.purestcolloids.com/) into them for a better taste.

I enjoy leaving the lemon peels on if it is organic when I make a green lemonade with lots of apple to sweeten it.
You guys should try grapefruit and garlic together, you'd have to experience it to believe it. The citrus acidity tempers the garlic. I learned to not put garlic in with my green juice, it killed my stomach.
I am aware that citrus peel contains bioflavanoids and pectin (and hesperidin?), and various essential oils, some of which are considered of therapeutic value under certain circumstances.
However, I have always found with orange and grapefruit peel that I get skin rashes after ingesting them. I do still occasionally consume the inner white pith, which is rich in many healthy substances and is great for the arteries in particular, but I ALWAYS now peel and discard the outer coloured, dimpled skin, to leave only the white pith (along with the rest of the conventionally-consumed fruit, of course). I can't recall whether lemons have the same effect and am not inclined to retest it to remind myself. What I DO recall about lemon peel if that I have a damned hard time digesting it.
I would also point out that if one allows the coloured, dimpled outer peel of citrus fruits to exude essential oils onto the skin of the lips, it yields a burning, sore sensation, so I wonder if it has a similar undesirable effect on the epithelial layers of the digestive system (of course the stomach is protected by a mucous layer).
Suffice to say that practical experience has taught me that the white inner pith of the skin is apparently ok, but the coloured dimpled outer layer of the skin seems less than ideal for internal or external use, under general circumstances. It may be that individuals with particularly excellent liver functioning may find themselves able to so rapidly detoxify the essential oils as to make their consumption a non-issue, but such is not the case for my personal experience.
The above personal experiences aside, the following page contains some info on citrus peels:

I believe citrus peels are also sometimes used in TCM.
