Hi! I'm Heather from Maryland. I will be 48 years old this year and I am SO EXCITED about my new, raw lifestyle (I've been raw since 1 Feb 2011). I was pretty much eating a "Clean" diet before venturing into the raw eating. I LOVE to workout, so I know how important it was to at least eat "Clean". One day, I saw an commercial for some lawyer willing to take cases from people who had issues with Osteoporosis meds (i.e., broken hips). I got curious and started researching these meds and somehow got to numerous websites that were telling that dairly causes Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis runs like wildfire in my family (on both sides). I IMMEDIATELY stopped all dairy - yogurt, milk on cereal, baking/cooking with dairy, etc. And talk about "things happen for a reason"! A girl started working with me who was a Vegan. I already was working with a Vegetarian, but didn't want to "pick" her brain because she still was ingesting dairy products. The Vegan and I got to talking. Found out she does a lot of soy - which I wasn't a fan of. I did more research and found out that a lot of plants contain the protein, calcium, and other essential nutrients I needed so I decided to go FULL-BLOWN raw. VERY HAPPY about my decision! :heart
My husband is extremely supportive and is always curious about what my next recipe is that I will be trying. Unfortunately, he's still a fan of eating meat.
My ONLY problem is (and I guess I lied earlier - I'm 99.99% raw) is that I still have to have my ONE graham cracker before I work out. This is something I've been doing for close to 20 years (5-6 days a week). I'm certain that it will be simple to replace that habit.
Anyway, I've enjoyed reading this Forum and am glad I stumbled upon it. I actually don't remember how I did, I just did.
Thanks for listening...hope to get to know you.
