I ordered Buckwheat from my grain co-op and it was under the sprouting category, so I figured it was for raw food sprouting. When it arrived it is unshelled! I don't know what to do with it! I wanted to sprout it so I could make granola out of it and other yummies, but I think this is for growing buckwheat grass.....I think?
So what do I do with this? Any suggestions?......Please.
The only thing I know of to do with it is like you mentioned, buckwheat grass... Will they allow you to return it? *Ü*

That's a bummer. I found some buckwheat too but I think it might also have shells.
I want to get some buckwheat for the same reason as you - granola. Would love to know if you are able to find a source that carries it.
I order our buckwheat through Azure Standard (dot com). We just soaked, sprouted & dehydrated 2 big nut milk bags worth because my husband loves his "buckwheaties". Just plain buckwheats (s, s & d) and nut milk. *Ü*

Maybe I could return it. The company is really nice, every time I have called with a question they have been very helpful, but since I got it through the co-op not the company I'm not sure. They do in fact have hulled buckwheat. I had some once to mill for bread, but didn't like it so haven't ordered it again (this was before I went raw). I get my wheat for milling from them, for making bread for the family, and I have sprouted it for wheat grass juice. So I'm sure that their hulled buckwheat would do the same. I thought it was weird that they had separate listings for the buckwheat, one under "grains" one under "sprouting grains" but I thought maybe the sprouting was of different quality....oh well. I'll call tomorrow and see what I can do.
So all this is good for would be to grow it and then juice it? There is not an easy way to get the hulls off?
Thanks for you replies.

Bread beckers, is where I get all my grains from. Just don't get the ones labeled for sprouting. :)
They really are a great company.

Yeah, grow some mini-greens with it!

Grow the buckwheat and put in a salad or use in wraps instead of alfalfa or clover. They taste really great to me.
