Has anyone had any success with eliminating deodorant? I have been using Tom's for a couple months. I know there has to be a better alternative or getting off deodorant completely?

I hardly use deodorant now after going raw (it's been about 5+months). I do have a natural smell if I workout but NOTHING like before:woohoo:. I had to use the "clinical strength" mess before. That is an indicator of how toxic I was. Now I use a salt crystal daily which works wonderfully.

I quit using it a couple years ago when my twin sister had to have a biopsy for possible breast cancer. The biopsy turned out negative, but I had read reports about a possible link between anti-perspirant use (sp?) and breast cancer. I figure it wasn't worth the risk.
I shower every day, don't really sweat much and no on has told me I smell yet
I'm just not stinky like I used to be! lol!
I also quit using it a couple years ago. I do use organic coconut oil under my arms and call it good. *Ü*

with 100% raw food, my body doesn't produce oder, i don't use any either.
If i do a little bit of steam vegetable or steam rice, i will need to use it.
Uncredible the power of live food.

I stopped using it after I had my last baby just because I didn't have time. After awhile I realized I didn't even need it and when I do wear it, I tend to sweat more. weird... I used to need it all the time though - don't know if this is raw related or not.

I use a crystal stick, but I don't need to use it everyday, even when I'm physically active. It's not an antiperspirant.

I definately want to diss my deodarent eventually when my body is clean enough to do so. I find that I dont have to apply my deodarent as frequently as I use to.
ETA: Some of my old shirts have dark armpit stains from before I switched my diet and deodarent and I can remember always having this film layer under my arms even after washing, ewwwww!

After a few months raw I slowly changed personal care products.I also went to Toms. For a month or so no problem, then one day I noticed giant cysts forming under my arms along with nasty rashes.I quit it and tried a J/A/S/o/N one,got worse, quit that.Ive been using the the crystal kind now.No problem same as (toms) an now I am experiencing lil bumps and rashes all over my armpits and down the sides to my hips of both sides .So Ive been using no deoderant more then using it. Guess that means what everyones been sayin,al-natural is the way to go.

I gave it up years ago.
Are you 100% raw.
If I eat cooked food the first thing that I notice when I wake up the following morning is the smell from under my arms.

I put on a salt crystal sometimes, more out of habit than anything else, if i don;t use it, I don't notice any difference. The crystal I have I've been using for years and it doesn't seem to go down! I'm not sure I'll be getting another after this one runs out. :)

I have only been on raw for two months and Im almost 100%. I do not consume any meats, egg or milk. I think it will be best for me to invest in a salt crystal.

I use the crystal only when wearing synthetic blend fabrics, or if I am going somewhere where I know my shyness will be on display lol. I don't typically have a noticeable odor, only if I eat a lot of onions or garlic. coffee and B vitamins when I used to take them (B6 especially!) were the worst offenders for smelly BO. They both gave me a skunky smell... yuck! A lot of times I'll smell like maple syrup from eating sprouted fenugreek seeds. people will ask if I've secretly been eating waffles for breakfast.

I only wear deodorant every so often. What really made me smelly was raw milk - that was bad! I must have picked up a parasite or something from it, because it was way beyond normal smelliness. Actually, dairy altogether makes me smell bad, like raw onions, even if I haven't eaten any. It's weird, but there it is. I avoid dairy as much as possible.

I'm wondering how hard that can be being raw. :confused

Raw foodists do not ingest any dairy.

Raw foodists do not ingest any dairy.
Raw VEGANS do not ingest any dairy. Raw foodist vegetarians and omnis can eat raw dairy. I'd gag if I did but there you go.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't do dairy anyway whatever I am! :)

I dont use any...must have saved a small fortune over the years. Most anti perspirents have aluminium in them which has been found in concentrations in breat tumours. A lot of women also shave so when they use these perspirents they are getting more skin contact.

No probs January. :)
Kaleboy, do you know how many times I've tried to explain the aluminium and shaving thing to people! HEAPS! Their eyes just glaze over or they don't believe me! sigh...

I know about the aluminum but is shaving bad also, really? Is it because the blade is aluminum and do they make blades from a different metal?

I believe the elevated risk of aluminum from the anti-perspirant use(deodorants do not nec. have this) and shaving is from the microscopic nicks and an increased absorption thru the skin breaks. I've not read anything citing only shaving.

Oh Okay.
klomasius

Yes, the increased risk is for both the shaving and the aluminium based deodorants together due to the micro abrasions and nicks increasing the amount of deodorant absorbed into the body.

My sweat kinda smells like a subtle mix of nuts and fruit since going raw. I don't really sweat unless I workout really hard either. I think sweating when you're not really hot is a way to excrete toxins. You have a lot of lymph nodes (which remove toxins) in your chest next to your armpits.
So I don't think its a good idea to use an antiperspirant because you'll just be blocking your poison removal system. Not a good idea!

When I did the 30 Day Raw Challenge I had issues with odor. But that was March and weather was getting warmer. I also have to pay attn to it I wear synthetic fabric b/c I will tend to sweat and develope odor. It seems like I am digressing. I used to never wear deodorant and now I tend to need it these days. I use Tom's when I do. I have also had the maple syrup pit odor too. Strange.
