A few years ago our gov sent out iodine tablets to all households in case of a radiation risk from Selefield but they are out of date now and they have not replaced them.

I've just heard that the Governments have told suppliers to stop selling Kelp/Iodine supplements!
I went to the stores yesterday and they were all selling out of these products!

Anyone on the West Coast? What are your thoughts on this?

I'll be in Korea in a month (although the risk will probably be gone by then) but I'm not worried about it. We live in a nuclear world, it will probably be what kills us all but I don't stress about things I can't control. Worrying about it could do more damage than the actual radiation. Just my two cents, though.

The winds have been going West luckily for Japan and Korea, especially if some uranium leaks. Sucks for anyone on the west coast of BC and the US though.
It sucks that there are so many nuclear power plants in the world...
Stressing about it doesnt help anything but being prepared will definitely help.

Hopefully they can get the other reactors under control.

Have a save trip to Korea!

>> It sucks that there are so many nuclear power plants in the world...

China and Hong Kong is facing big trouble now.
High concentration of China's nuclear plants and population.
No place to escape.

Before 2020, there will be at least 11 plants total 24 reactors in China.
Near Hong Kong, there will be 3 plants and 10 reactors, 7-8 million people in HK.

>> I'll be in Korea in a month (although the risk will probably be gone by then)

i hope so, at least not the case for Japan.

we have options, but Gov chose to develop nuclear.

>> I don't stress about things I can't control.

we can control our own decision,
but it is hard to control Gov decision or your neighbor's decision.

Japan still cannot solve the problem.
And i don't think they can.

Iodine can help against radiation?
I would never know that though.
