What do you want to sprout. Alfalfa is very easy so maybe you should start with alfalfa seeds.
Wholefoods usually has a section where they have sprouting equipment and seeds. It is usually at the bottom end of the veg section.

our Whole foods doesn't carry any sprouting stuff
You may want to check out the sproutpeople.com on line .. they carry pretty much everything you need for seeds and sprouters and detailed instructions on how to sprout Everything!
I use an Easy Sprout ... I've used jars, bowls, bags, plates, trays ... and always come back to the easy sprout because its, well, easy ... doesn't take a lot of space, and I've never had a failed batch yet.
Alfalfa or clover are the easiest to grow ... radish is super easy as well. Sproutpeople have a lot of nice mixes.
Today for lunch I had onion flax crackers, spread with a large dollop of sunflower pate, topped with a good sized wad of sprouts (clover/alfalfa/radish mix) ... then topped with another cracker ... ummm good.:eat
There is also a forum out there (a yahoo group actually) of folks that all they talk about pretty much is sprouts ... very informative. They chat about raw food some, too. here is the link:

Yes, the Easysprout is awesome. So EASY. I have about 8 of them. I think they'll be putting them in my coffin with me. You too Levamssg?
Every Weds or Thurs I drop a tablespoon of alfalfa seeds and same of broccoli seeds together in an easysprout and they're good to go by about Monday.
It's like a religion.

lol RawBogan. Yep, I have several Easy Sprouts ... and have more than one going at a time. I stack them -- more sprouts in less space :)
Happy sprouting kellybethx3!!
