Hi,
Could someone tell me what high-raw means?
Is it like 85% or more raw vegan? Are there health benefits to being less than 100% raw?
Sorry for all the questions but I really would like to know the difference.

Ann,
Yes, there are benefits with being high raw. Before I started on the all raw diet, I was high raw. 85%-95%, then I just one day did the 30 day raw challenge and now am onto the 90 day raw challenge.
Anyhow, I did see benefits from being high raw. I lost weight, got energy, had some pretty good benefits from being on a high raw diet.
This is what I called my transition period! I believe it took me close to a month to move totally over to all raw.
Now, the benefits from being on an all raw diet FAR surpass the benefits of a high raw diet.
I have gotten in touch with my inner self (that is ME saying that?? :)), I have learned to be more open and honest with people, I've come out of my "shell", my skin is much clearer, my energy level is through the roof, my hair is shinier, my relationships are improving, my appetite has gone down drastically, I am less easily frazzled, I feel happier, and last but not least I have lost weight.
All the other benefits that I have received from the raw diet are so much more important to me than the weight loss, though that is a very awesome side benefit of being all raw! The weight just pours off!
Hope that answers some of your questions! :)

Hi blessed. The definition of high raw varies from person to person, but generally I believe it means eating 75% or more of your food raw and unheated.
As to benefits. Well, it is far more beneficial to eat the majority of your food in its raw, living state than to eat a typical cooked food diet. Your body wont be as taxed or as toxic, depending on your cooked food choices that is.
Eating a 100% raw diet is the most beneficial. Your body is given entirely raw, enzyme filled, nutrient rich food that is not only easy to digest and assimilate, but also allows it the opportunity to clean and repair, resulting in vibrant health. Any cooked food will only delay or slow down this process and interfere with the body's abiliity to absorb the nurtrients you are giving it.
I hope this answered your questions for you!
Warmly~

I think a lot of people assume that it's the raw food doing the healing, when it's actually the body healing itself.
The whole reason a 100% all raw diet is so healing is that the body doesn't have to overwork itself decifering what dentured foods are going into it. The raw fruits and vegetables are giving the body needed nutrients in the least stressful form. A fast could do this much quicker but with an unhealthy body to begin with, few people can accomplish this whie going along with their day-to-day lives.
So when your body isn't working so hard trying to digest, assimilate and evacuate any denatured food, it will prioritze healing in the body.
Cuts and broken bones will heal quickly as they seen as priority. But things like excess weight, stretch marks, and slow moving diseases are often put on the back burner because the body doesn't see them as priority.
That said, when you aren't taking in any denatured foods, your body is going to heal amazingly quick. It doesn't have to deal with anything coming in that will add stress to its amazing healing ability, and it will go to work on things that it sees requiring more attention.
That is why many people don't see certain things healing quickly.
If the weight isn't coming off fast enough, well, perhaps the body is working on something more important.
If that old shoulder injury is still a bother, perhaps the body is working on something else more important.
If energy is really low for no apparant reason, the body could be working on another thing, and rest is suggested.
Hopefully that will explain how it works, and will keep folks from thinking it's the raw food, rather it's the lack of cooked food that is causing the body to heal itself.
Sorry Carmel, didn't realize you posted essentially the same thing, until I read it.

Sorry Carmel, didn't realize you posted essentially the same thing, until I read it.
It's helpful to hear it two different ways, from two different perspectives. :)

Sharon and SG, excellent ways to explain it, we should somehow move this info to "need to know more about raw" I think answers alot of questions, in these two posts. :o)
