Hello, Hello, HELLO RAWbies!!!!!

Yau'll KNOW what time it is???? It's time to
PAR-TY!!!!! HEY!!!!! PAR-TY!!!!!!!

Here's a quote from our lovely Aleesha about how it'll work:

"We are planning on having one of these parties a week. Renee is going to choose the ingredient (like this week was blueberries) and she'll choose a recipe for us to make. We can make the one she suggests (cause we looooove her suggestions) or you can make something else.

Then we'll share our creations.

Since someone asked about it being on a weekend. Our next party will be on Sunday the 20th... and the lovely Renee will start a thread later today letting us know what the ingredient will be so we can all start planning!"

SOOOO!!!!!! The ingredient for SUNDAY, March 20, 2011 will be...

:drumroll, please.......:

TOMATOES!!!!!!!!

In honor of Aleesha's wonderful Tomato Juice, I'd like to choose TOMATOES!!!!!!! The possibilities are ENDLESS!!!! From Alissa's Marinara Sauce, to Stuffed Tomatoes with a Pate from LOLF!!!!! Or, we could make Tomato Ravioli from RFFE!!!! I can't WAIT to see the creations you make from TOMATOES!!! You can use Red or Yellow Tomatoes!!! Big or small!!! Let's get CREATIVE!!!!!!!

:Woot:

Hi everyone!!!

I'm so glad you all like the theme of Tomatoes for the next PARTY!!!!!

Hi January Noir!!!!

The first thread we started was to highlight the Blueberry Pie/Cheesecake from Alissa's book LOLF. I really would like to stay close that thought for the threads that follow this theme since there are SOOOO many to choose from, and as an appreciation to Alissa for all that she does for us. I know we all appreciate using this site for free. Having said that, I mean...were NOT gonna kick you out of the party if you make a different dish!!!! But, MY first choice will be to do a recipe I've never done before, or one I love from LOLF, or RFFE, which uses Tomatoes!

Anyway, hope to see you all at the PARTY!!!!!!!

What a great idea! I just looked through RFFE and I know exactly what I will make - and I agree that it gets us to think outside our usual repertoire. It's kind of like an "iron chef" challenge, except its super-healthy, much more fun and we have a week to prepare!

What time should we meet?

What a fun thread. Tomatoes are one of my favorties, too. Only below avocados in fact. Will be so much fun seeing what everyone creates!
Will be there.

Whoa-Raw, Your soup would go great with the BLT sandwiches/wraps that I will be bringing (not sure if they will be a sandwich or a wrap yet). It's inspired by the BLT wraps in RFFE. I've already made the sun-dried tomato wraps and they are so delicious (I think it's called the "Italian Wrap" recipe in her book). Hopefully there will be some leftover for the party on Sunday - If not, I will just have to make more :) That's the problem with prepping too far in advance:p

MMMmmm!! Those BLT wraps sounds delicious! And sounds like a good combo too with the soup! I will be looking those wraps up for the ingredients. Looking foward to seeing you at the party!! :woot:

Renee, Hope you feel better! How in the world were you able to make such a beautiful dish when you have no appetite at all? That's what I call a great host!

I was going to bring the BLT-A wraps from RFFE, but I ate them all up during the week (they were way too delicious) so I made the Brazilian Stew instead - we are going to have it for dinner, but I snuck in a taste and it is soooo good! My husband is going to love it. It was my first time sprouting barley, which is pretty cool and I love the idea of the cashew "shrimp"!

Below are pics of the stew and wraps (which I urge everyone to make!!)

mmm my toms were amazing. i decided to do it a little different. i grabbed a portabello mushroom... put 1/2 an avocado on it - mashed and topped it with a few tom slices. mmmm so yummers. then i took the other half of the avo and just put it on tom slices... and finished off the tom and the avo.

i'm soooooooooooo happy in my tummy.

i'm so glad to hear you were able to eat renee. soooo happy. (((hugs)))

Ok, so my husband couldn't wait and wanted to eat the Brazilian Stew right away, and I was right - he absolutely loved it! He said it was delicious and hardy - and then you know what he said? "Raw food makes me happy!" - can you believe that!! :excited:LOL - don't tell him I told you though :whisper

I'm having the zippy soup now. It sure taste good after chilling in the fridge for a few hours!! Wish I had some raw chips or crackers to scoop the soup up with and eat!! I will be making this again!!

Oh Renee, I have a magical screen where I can transfer the soup from my screen to your screen!! ZIppity Yippity Soup to you!! Glad to hear you're feeling better!! :hug

Aleesha, I had the sliced tomato plate before!! YUM!! I usually sprinkle some sea salt on top of it, then maybe smash up some avocado and layer them, then top it off with alfalfa sprouts!! I love it!!

NYC E, the BTL wrap looks so flexible and good!! Thanks for making me want to make them soon!!

I'm off to finish the yummy soup!! Oh excuse me.....The Very ZIPPY Soup!

All the pics and recipies look delicious ! I love tomato with basil and a drizzle of EVO, especially in the summer with home grown tomatoes.

I missed the event. The only thing on my mind was our Janie (Cat) - with her newly diagnosed kidney problems, she was so depressed, not eating, had a high fever. We felt so helpless and had to be at the Vets first thing this AM for more antibiotics. Basically, since no dialysis, we give subqutaneous fluids twice a day. and are trying to bring up her values, otherwise she'll go into renal failure. Lost my appetite as well from feeling sad.
