View Full Version : When juice feasting/fasting how much should be consumed per serving??

I'm starting a juice feast/fast on Monday and am trying to determine how much fruits/vegetable I should be purchasing per week and juicing per serving. I thought I would start off with 16 oz per serving 7 times a day.
I would really love not to spend more than $100 per week.
Also I work full time out of the house and will be taking my juices with me in mason jars.
Any suggestions would be helpful

That's a lot of juice, TG! If you use a lot of fruit, you're going to be taking in a lot of calories--of course this might not be relevant to you. Or you might be watering down the juice.
It does get pretty expensive, especially if you use organic produce. I find that cukes, celery, and carrots give me a lot of juice per unit. As do tomatoes if you can find any this time of year. You might try butternut squash, zucchini, sweet potatoes, beets, peppers, and cabbage.
Greens of course too--you don't get much volume but they pack a punch. I've been enjoying spinach, parsley, and kale.
Good luck and enjoy! And join us on the March fasting thread.

calories don't matter at all... and you can totally do lots of fruits if you desire. i pretty much only did fruits for my entire 209 day juice fast last year...
root veggies often are high in sugars so adding greens to your juices is always a good idea.
and yes... come join the march fasting thread!!!

Thank for the replies. I'm planning on doing a combination of fruit and vegetable juices with an emphasis on vegetable.
I just brought groceries for the 1st 3 days and it came to $100! Just for 3 days!
The next time I have to shop it will be for 4 days and I'm working with a $400 a month grocery budget.
I'm really concerned about getting enough to drink per day. I don't want to starve myself which is why I ask the amount you guys drink per serving.

I've been enjoying my juicing. I mix mine with water...I drink water first if I'm hungry. If it doesn't take care of me, I have juice.

Hi and I wish you a great start to your fast! For me, the pre-fast day is always the hardest!
I aim for 4L of juice a day, drank as 4 meals- 2 green, 2 juice- but as the fast goes on I respond more to what my body tells me. Somedays i drink less, somedays more. I have had enough energy to work, exercise, go out, etc. You can find deals on produce-ask your grocery store for the ugly fruit and veggies they will toss, maybe you can look into a pick your own farm nearby or at least in the same state. Just some ideas!

I've never been into counting calories. I don't have the time or patience for it.
My goal is to drink 3 to 5 green drinks a day and 2 fruits drinks the rest of the time.
Today is pre-day, I'm waiting for my 1st batch of groceries to be delivered and trying to resist the sweet drinks I usually drink. I already have a headache.
