I'm still a noob @ rawfood , so this might be asking the obvious for you guys.

Just discovered that coconut flesh contains massive amounts of calories , which would enable me to reach the amount of calories i want to eat daily, and replace non raw foods that i sometimes take to get my minimum wanted amount of calories.

Now i searched a little on google , and almost nowhere i see (raw) people talking about eating coconutflesh , it's all coco-oil or coco butter.

Can someone please enlighten me?

Yes, you can defiantly eat the coconut flesh. It is soo yummy, but make sure you get a young coconut. Then the flesh comes out really easily and you can do lots of things with it, eat it right out of the coconut, put it in smoothies. I like to put it in the blender with some raw cocoa and make chocolate pudding...really yummy.

There are also lots of videos on youtube about how to open a young coconut. I would put a link but they get kinda funny about links on this forum, not sure if that applies to youtube or not but just going to play it safe :) You can also use the banana search to find out more about what to do with coconut meat.

Hi thanks for your reply ,
i wasn't really asking if i could eat coconut flesh ,or how to open a coconut , i was asking why everyone seems to use coconut oil and butter instead of the flesh.

We use the flesh all the time. We put it in our smoothies and I make yummy raw desserts with it.. My kiddos love eating right out of the coconut.

I think getting the young coconuts can be expensive for some and not as readily available in all places. Where as you can usually find or buy on-line coconut oil and butter....

Oh, well in that case, it is a lot easier to open a jar of coconut oil then it is a young coconut.

I just bought some young coconuts for $3/ea. Each will be gone in one sitting. A jar of extra virgin coconut oil that lasts me 2 months costs $20.

There is nothing like the taste of a cold fresh young coconut and the fresh coconut milk/water. Once you start eating them, its hard to stop, no matter what the cost.:eat
