Make them for a snack or dinner! They were so good! An I am not big on things made with that much flax. I had tried a pizza crust that was all flax, and I didn't like it. But these were so good! I had one with shredded coconut on it, yummy:drool:! I was wondering if you could throw them in the D for a an hour or so and I wonder how they would taste!

I don't eat agave or honey, and I typically don't include maple syrup in my raw diet, but....I am going to make an exception for these pancakes and use the maple syrup. I think it will be well worth it. Very excited to try these!!
Did all of you use maple syrup or something else for the sweetener?

That seems like an awful lot of flax seed. My guts would be rumbling. Anyone tried it with golden flax not dark. It is less hard on me.

Emailed the link to you via Facebook! But look below, I'll have it here in a sec!
I obtained VERY SPECIAL permission from Carla Aguas of Bee's Knees Kitchen (http://beeskneeskitchen.wordpress.com) (who is just TOTALLY amazing!) to post her pancake recipe here.
OK, without further ado, I'm going to copy/paste everything from where we featured the recipe (http://uncooking101.com/site/raw-food-recipe/cinnamon-pancakes/):
If you can believe it, this pancake recipe by Carla Aguas does NOT require a dehydrator!
INGREDIENTS (FOR CINNAMON PANCAKES)
1 c Ground Flax or 3/4 c Whole Flax
2 Bananas
1 1/2 tbls Maple Syrup or Agave Nectar
1 tbls Cinnamon
1 tsp Nutmeg
1/2 tsp Allspice
1/2 tsp Cloves
INSTRUCTIONS (FOR CINNAMON PANCAKES)
Grind the flax using the flat blade in a Magic Bullet, personal blender or grinder until a meal forms. Empty into a medium size bowl. Blend the rest of the ingredients and empty into the bowl with the flax meal. Lightly fold the mixture together and let sit for 5 minutes while you prepare the Fruit Topping. This will allow the flax meal to become thicker.
INGREDIENTS (FOR FRUIT TOPPING)
2 Bananas
3/4 c Mixed Berries
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
INSTRUCTIONS (FOR FRUIT TOPPING)
Slice the bananas lengthwise about 1/4 inch thick. Wash the berries and dry with a paper towel.
To assemble, divide the sticky, thick Cinnamon Pancake batter in half over two large plates. Using a spatula smooth out the surface into a round circular pancake form. Top with the banana slices and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Top with the mixed berries and drizzle with Maple Syrup, Honey or Agave Nectar.
Makes 2 large Pancakes

snoops I'm probably going to make them with the golden soon. I ran out of flax so had to skip them on Sunday (SO SAD!), but I have the golden. I can't imagine it would be THAT much different... :)

Not yet, but that's good to know!! Do you have to dehydrate them? Tell us more!!!

Oh, YES!!!!!!! Alissa's are the ABSOLUTE BEST, hands down....honestly!!!! Yes, they are dehydrated. If you look back in her personal Blog, I know that she did post the recipe a while ago...(I don't have time to look for it right now...) so, you'll be able to make them, if you don't have the book yet. They are wonderful, let me tell ya!!!
But, these are good, too!!!!! I like that there is no nuts in them and that they don't have to be dehydrated, so you can make um in a pinch!!!!
Here is a photo of mine! I just made them and they are already GONE!!!!! My 9 year old daughter helped me DEVOUR them!!!!
http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u336/Pioneerspiritnee/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_2602.jpg
Wonderful! When I have a dehydrator again and the time, I will have to make these. :)

It'll be on her blog somewhere.
https://www.alissacohen.com/news/
But the entire blog is soooooo worth reading. There's some great recipes in it!
I thought it would be fun to see -- but the pancake recipe is most definitely not on her blog. I tried the search box at right and then perused through it all. No pancakes in sight... Am I missing something?

I wished i would have seen this post sooner. I made my own this morning. I had to make pancakeS for my daughter to take to school, they were going to make pancake and eat them, the teacher let me know in advance so i could come up with my own raw version). I did two kinds, first the Alissa's recipe (banana fruit leather but i had to do a coconut cream because nuts aren't allowed) and something that i made up that look close enough to a pancake.
Your looks so delicious,
Raw Angel Mom! Hello! How nice of the teachers to give you warning. I loooove the idea of using Alissa's fruit leather for pancakes! Is that her pancake recipe, or was it specifically the leathers pretending to be pancakes?

I used her fruit leather recipe but i had to make a different filling because aren't allowed. I just use young coconut, lime juice, honey, vanilla and a little bit of coconut water. I made her straberry sauce.
I did that last night and this morning i did the filling.
This is the recipe for the pancake that i came up with. I made cup cake by mistake one time and i just modify the recipe so it would be more like a pancake. Feel free to try
3/4 cup of grounded buckweat flower (sprouted and dry before)
3/4 coconut flower
1 cup 1/4 psyllium grounded with 4 vanilla beans
1/4 cup of coconut butter
1 large spoon of honey
Mixe by hand until the coconut butter is blend well
Add 1 cup of frozen mango (first process in the food processor)
and 2 cup of banana pudding (blend in vitamix about 3 medium banana)
Mixe with spatulla.
Form lovely round pancake. Dehydrated over night on texflex sheet and remove the texflex when dry enough and let it continue to dehydrate for the night.
p.s At the beginning of my daughter school. I wrote a letter adress to the teacher in charge. I let them know about our diet and printed a couple picture of different food that i made to educate them. Short story, they fully support me and are respectful. When they make cookies, they let me know and i come with cookies. I always make enough for others to try and the children. I made bear's paw last time at their poetry caffe gathering. People are more interested in the way of making raw food then we can think. Who wouldn't like this, gluten free, dairy free totally allergies safe (if no nuts of course). It brings poeple curiosity to want to know more. The staff has already approached me to learn how to make the recipes. I am not a chef even after taking Alissa's class but raw food is so easy to make that even me i can come up with stuff.

OMG!! I just tried the pancakes!! they were sooo good!!! I thought they might be a bit bitter because the apple carrot flax bread I make has a bit of a bitter after taste, but NO these were awesome! Soooo hit the spot. I see a lot of these pancakes in my future.
Thank you so much Eva :throwhearts:
Raw Angel Mom -- WOW -- love the idea -- that it works so well for either a pancake or a cupcake. Isn't it neat how we can just play with the presentation and look of things and POOF in the raw world, they can be something new!? I love it. Thanks a MILLION for sharing that.
And thank you for sharing your experience at the school!! That's great to know -- and I think you're right -- people do have the chance to be very curious if we just let them! Raw foods are INTERESTING! And soooo easy for anyone with ANY special diet need, just about!!
bananaberrie -- YAY!!! So good to hear!! Carla's recipes are just soooo awesome! She is my hero! lol!

Hey Eva, I think you're right...it wasn't in the Blog, I believe it was in Alissa's newsletter that she sends out!
I can't seem to find a copy of it, but I'm sure that's where it was. But, (as Rev says...) Google is my friend, so I Googled it and found it several places.
Thanks Renee! I googled and found them too! They really do sound spectacular! I'll have to try them one day when I want something a little more gourmet. :)

I made these pancakes! They were good, very sweet and filling. I actually couldn't finish a whole one. I shared the other with a non-raw (meat eating!) friend who also declared them good.
I also have some tips! I didn't want to put more maple syrup over the pancakes, so I whipped up the following sauce:
--meat from one large young tai coconut
--two bananas
--an apple
--some cinnamon
--a bit of vanilla extract (or vanilla bean)
--a touch of nut milk (or water)
That sauce was soooo good over the pancakes. I think the pancakes definitely need either a sauce or maple syrup to balance out the richness of the flax. Don't skip the fruit topping, either! I just used bananas and strawberries but might add in blueberries or blackberries next time.
Another tip: If you have a cheapo blender like me instead of a high-powered one, you might want to either mash or cut the bananas up in small pieces before blending the mixture to go into the flax. Mine did blend fine, but it was dicey for a minute there -- at first the blender just spun, not mixing anything, while the spices clouded up. But then I did get it to mix. :)
Since I don't have a dehydrator and therefore don't make a lot of the "fancy" raw stuff and mostly stick to salads, this was a great opportunity to make something different. Oh, and it really was as easy as everyone else says. Took minutes!

I love pancakes - but I can't eat bananas (too high in alcohol fruit).
Any ideas what I can replace them with?

Yum! Made it this a.m. with a few changes since I didn't want a big one. Used only 1/4 c. flax, 1 naner, 1 T of 50/50 maple and honey and the spices with strawberries on top. Wasnt all that stiff, more like a porridge, ate it with a spoon to get every bit!
Thanks again!
Crazy how many people are still emailing me and commenting to me about how great this recipe is!! Carla is just awesome! I just emailed her about this... very cool!
