i just did some math to try and figure out who got ripped off worse - my dad who got a magic bullet or me who ordered a magimix. here is the data:

magic bullet - 2.1 lbs motor base, 2 cup size, $50.

$24 per pound of base. 1 cup size per 1 lbs base.

magimix - 14.4 lbs motor base, 14 cup size, $350

$24 per pound of base, 1 cup size per 1 lbs base.

so in both cases it costs EXACTLY the same for one pound of motor base or 1 cup of capacity, and aslo in both cases it takes exactly 1 pound of motor base to power 1 cup of capacity.

copper costs about $3 per pound, and about 1/3 of the motor base weight is actually copper. In other words copper represents about 4% of the cost of the machine in both cases.

there is a business lesson in here somewhere ...

Do they both work and do the job desired? Isn't that what counts?

that's subjective :)

I had a Magic Bullet and I didn't care for it at all. I traded it to a friend of mine (after warning her that I didn't like it). She said the motor burned out after just a few uses. She was using it for smoothies. *Ü*

I have a Magic Bullet and have been using it for years without issue.

I think the difference is that I never have 350 to put out for a blender. I bought a bogger blender that makes frozen smoothies from QVC and I have lots of luck for that $20 sale price blending up stringy veg.

If one works for you and one for him, that is all that matters. It's not a ripoff if it does the job you want

I have both a Vita-Mix and a Magic Bullet, and I like them both. I consider both of them to be high-speed blenders, and the Magic Bullet, can probably do a smoothie that's about 90% as blended as the V-M.

But you just have to remember that the Magic Bullet is a toy, and you can't wail on it.

Interesting to note, I wail on my Vita-Mix and have overheated it quite a few times, but never my Magic Bullet --- perhaps because I don't use it as much - but also because I baby it more and I never ever run it over one or two minutes.

I bought an extra Magic Bullet for a friend I was coaching. she's 80+ years old, and I told her she was going to die if she didn't change, to which she agreed. I set her all up to grow wheatgrass, bought her a nutmilk bag, taught her how to juice with it, and she lost 20 lbs. Then, interestingly, she gave it back and quit! I just don't get it. Then she even told her neighbor about it, nd he was going to also.....I then gave the Magic Bullet to another overweight friend, and taught her as well....She lost seven lbs within two weeks, just by adding green smoothies to her diet.....All with the Magic Bullet.

So for those who absolutely can't afford a large blender, something like the Magic Bullet can be a godsend.

But Target sells a mini high-speed blender --possibly by Tribest? that last I saw, was only $27.

It makes me wonder if my Magic Bullet was a lemon... From what I've read in different posts here, everyone who's had a MB really loves it! Mine was the first one to come out when you could only order it from the infomercial. It just didn't have any power to speak of - I tried and tried, then packed it away. I kept it for years cuz it was a gift... *Ü*

Could be DebB---maybe a lemon, maybe you didn't know then what you know now and wailed on it, or maybe the earlier ones were wimpy. Well, at some point, one of your friends etc, may have one. They make good wedding/shower gifts too ===so you may know someone who has one.

Great for travelling too.....Geez, I sound like a commercial....

i doubt it. i think it's just a matter of personality. for many people, like my father, everything they own seems awesome to them. these people are blessed.

back in 1998 i picked a car for him, and after that car was dead he bought the same one again, and then again - for the third time. and i'm not talking about the same brand now - i am talking about same exact model, of the same year and same color. because ever since it became his car it automatically became the best car, so he wouldn't have any other one.

i assure you - it isn't a good car. i am scared for my life when i am in it. it has no brakes, no steering, no air conditioning, no heating and that's just scratching the surface of what's wrong with it. half the parts in the suspension are broken and make grinding noises when turning, braking, accelerating or doing just about anything. the engine mounts are broken too and the engine hits the chassis whenever switching from forward to reverse. the sunroof will not close fully and makes a whistling noise. the tape player is broken.

but he thinks the car is great. i have an excellent bluetooth CD/MP3 stereo in storage that i offered to install for him ( for free ) in place of his broken tape player but he doesn't want it because his car is already perfect you see, and if it was changed in any way it would become less perfect.

i used to get mad at him, but then i realized that most people are actually this way just to different extent. this is how people are able to love their wife or husband, their kids, but most importantly their own self. this is actually normal. i am fully aware that it is me who isn't normal because i look at everything objectively including everything that is fundamentally subjective.

i lied about picking magimix over cuisinart based on personal preference - i am not capable of something like personal preference. i just decided to spare you the actual reasoning why it is better because i know you guys aren't insane like me and you wouldn't care :)

that's the answer. if they weren't the kind of people who would love a magic bullet they wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

I had one, and it wasn't a lemon, it just was junk in my opinion. I think it should be against the law to compare a MB with a VM. They shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Granted, a MB would work in a pinch if you didn't have $$ to buy a VM, but to say that a MB works as good as a VM?
