I am 3 days in on eating raw. I started reading after I saw a woman on the news talking about eating raw. But now:confused I see theres a whole world out there thats doing this, I had never even heard of eating raw or why someone would do it. Now I know, understand it a little better but OMG there seems to be so much to it. Maybe its because its so new for me.
I cant say im complaining at all, the food all tastes very good and most of it I liked before but had never tried raw. My biggest problem is texture, im really missing textures found in cooked foods. Does this go away? Im trying it for 30 days and I bought a book to help me along, but theres not many recipes in it. I tihnk the only thing im not eating totaly raw right now, is ezekial bread, which I was told is baked at very low temps and that helps preserve the nutrients. I work construction and its so much easier to grab a sandwich stuffed with veges, raw cheese and olive oil. An orange after a:dance:nd im good.
I was doing some craving last night as far as salt goes and would have loved to grab a canybar somewhere but I didnt,,,do the craving subside too? I have tons of questions,,,,,,,,any advice on great tasting recipes would help alot. Im looking for a breakfast bar if theres one out there to make. I plow city streets in the winter time and dont want to end up hitting convenience stores. I have to be able to eat it one handed and it has to last so I dont go back for more.:hug

pardon the typos,,I am a 2 finger typer.
Thank you for any help advice suggestions, ANYTHING lol.

Sorry, one more question. Storage. How do I store raw honey, cold pressed olive oil? I found out the hard way that maybe the fridge isnt where the olive oil belongs. It turned hard.....im lost.

If you're looking for something to eat one-handed, I may suggest Lara bars. They are not completely raw, but they are sure a heck of a lot better than grabbing a convenience store candy bar!

Also, you might be able to make green smoothies and take those with you; maybe find a suitable container with which you can swig at with only one hand. The greens in the smoothie should also help out with cravings, which should naturally start disappearing after a while eating raw foods.

Wishing you the best on your journey!

I store my olive oil and honey in the cupboard. They both last forever.

Btw ~ this is a vegan (or, beegan) raw food board. Dairy is not included in our discussions here. Might want to read the "Rules for Posting" and "Mission Statement" for what's "allowed" or not, 'k? :)

Welcome! Welcome! I'm a kinda-newbie. I'm doing a green smoothie fast for six weeks (13 days in) but have done raw "regular" food before as well. There is a lot to learn, but it does help to stick with what you know and sloooowly (or as fast as you want!) branch out.

I found Pure bars at my local Food Lion (grocery) and they're supposed to be 100% raw vegan. They are insanely good, especially the chocolate. I'd recommend them to anyone and they're about the same price as Lara bars. I used to keep a few in my purse for eating on the go. (I'm on call 24/7 so I have my "just in case" plans everywhere! hehe).

I've once stored olive oil in the fridge too, I remember that. The nice thing is it is forgiving. Coconut oil amuses me here in the south because one day it's hard in the pantry and the next day it's liquid.

You'll have lots of fun here. I really enjoy this site and the people on it. Lots of folks keep blogs and the recipe section in the discussion board is fantastic. Just keep on posting and folks will keep helping.
