What is the one item all of you can't go without on a juice fast or even when you are making juice?

Is there one thing you realize you always add in?

I realized this morning that I always add in cucumber. I can go without my ginger, my garlic... even my fennel is I have to... but I can't make juice without cucumber (or at least zucchini in it's place).

Of course, I love my tomato juice so my tomatoes are high on the list as well.

How about you? What is it you loooove to add to your juices?:throwhearts:

I make a lemon-ginger blast every morning and for the most part it's pretty much the same (just rotating the greens). But I would say I've always got ginger, lemon, cucumber & celery in there - the fruit and greens are always different.

Good post - this will be interesting to see what people juice on a regular basis. *Ü*

As I was reading the first line from this thread, I had a picture of cucumbers in my mind! They're so mild, juicy, and pretty cheap, so they go well with just about anything I juice!

Also a big fan of celery when I juice.

I'd say apple is the mainstay. Then carrot next. Third most used might be cucumbers or kale.
Always good to throw a little love in there too. (A lesson gleened rom my wife fixing my lunches in years past-I noticed her once squashing the sandwich slightly before wrapping it and asked what she was doing. "Just adding a little love into it" was her reply.) :heart

Ginger without a doubt! After my 21 day fast, I can't have juice without it...and it seems to go with everything!

I always add carrots. I actually hope that is okay...I find that carrots seem to add a lot of juice and "push" the greens through the juicer. (Even though I have a GreenStar, which is pretty fabulous.) And, of course, I love how they taste. I usually include 4-6 medium-sized carrots in with my green juice and it's delicious. I often add a small apple, too. Other than that my favorite greens to juice are spinach and swiss chard.

DebB, how do you do your lemon ginger blast ?

Hi kaleboy ~ It's a recipe from Lou Corona (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha2m-xxjbwg). I copied and pasted from YouTube. I modify it. I do not add the habenero pepper(s) or the arugula as I don't care for them. I use (depending what I have on hand), 1 apple, a pear and some pineapple all for sweet. 1/2 bunch cilantro, 1/2 bunch parsley, couple big handsful baby spinach, one other green (kale, chard, etc.), 1/3 or so head of celery, 1 cucumber, 1 whole lemon and the ginger.

I've learned a LOT about juicing from liferegenerator... I'd like to order Lou Corona's ebook.

LOU CORONA'S LEMON GINGER BLAST DAILY JUICE RECIPE!

* I n g r e d i e n t s *

— 2 Apples
— 1-3 in. piece Ginger
— 1 Lemon (UNpeeled if organic; peeled if not organic)
— 1 bunch Cilantro
— 1 bunch Parsley
— 1 bunch Arugula
— 3 Habaneros
— 1 Cucumber

— 1) Run all ingredients through your juicer.

— 2) For the portion of juice you're drinking right now, just add ice if desired & enjoy...

— 3) Immediately pour any remaining juice into GLASS mason jars, sealed shut w/ PLASTIC lids (metal lids rust). Then just keep your jars of juice in a fridge or cooler until you're ready to drink some more! Your juice can stay very fresh this way for 2 days, 3 at the absolute most. IDEALLY, you want to drink juice RIGHT after it's made. REALISTICALLY, not many people are able to make a fresh juice in the morning before work, nor while at work! So do the best YOU can & make JARS o' JUICE! Can you dig it? :D

I put in half a jalapeno with the seeds and whoa - that was not real pleasant. I can't imagine habaneros. But, like my husband says, "You can do anything once." *0*

I too make a lemon ginger blast every morning, absolutely love them, and I add the hot pepper too. Deliciously spicy.

So I always add apple, lemon, ginger, hot pepper, celery. Then greens, cucumber/courgette, whatever I have. :)

I have the Lou Corona ebook, some tasty, really simple recipes in there.

I've learned a lot from Dan and Lou as well, lemon ginger blasts and almond yogurts are now staples for me. Unfortunately I can't get young coconuts where I am so I've to adjust many of the recipes.
